I’ve developed a game plan for when this hits my city

    • I will not comply with any check points
    • I will force them to arrest me
    • I will demand a jury trial
    • I will be co-council with my attorney, he runs the case
    • I will make my own closing remarks

    Which will be

"I refused to comply with a military-armed checkpoint. That is true.

But my question to you is this — why was that checkpoint there in the first place? Are we at war? No. Has there been a terrorist attack that warrants such a measure? No.

So the question before you isn’t simply why I refused to comply… it’s why the military was conducting random checkpoints in the streets of our community at all.

I thought this was the United States of America — not Iraq, not Afghanistan. Our streets are not battlefields, and our neighbors are not enemy combatants.

You, the jury, have a choice. You can accept this new reality — one where the military can set up checkpoints in our neighborhoods — and find me guilty.

Or you can take a stand and say this is not the America we are meant to be, and find me not guilty.

Those are the lines I wish to be judged by, because that was my intention from the very start."

The timing of this is interesting, right before he goes to a meeting in Alaska with Putin. Trump’s going to make some type of announcement after his meeting, something he knows will cause protests, and he’s locking down the capital beforehand to stop any protests from happening there.

Is it going to be an announcement about the Ukraine invasion by Russia? Probably. But, based on Trump’s history, he may have made a deal to sell Alaska to Russia as the ultimate real estate deal. Wouldn’t put it past him.

You mean like how Russia sold Alaska to the US in the first place? Or how the US annexed Hawaii and overthrew their king?

You want to talk about real estate deals?

Blackrock buying real estate in Ukraine? Oh not directly. But what do you think it means? Generous selfless offers of help?

Yeah yeah, Trump bad guy, but are you equally as well informed about what was happening anyways?

What was happening then, has no bearing on what’s happening now. Russia sold Alaska to America back before modern extraction techniques made it a very valuable piece of land. I’m sure they would love to have it back now, and Trump would love to bolster his place in history for making large deals by selling it back to Russia.

You’re using historical facts that have no bearing on the situation to try and argue that Trump wouldn’t do that, when he would do it in a fucking heartbeat if he thinks he can get away with it.

He’s not lying … crime IS on the rise in DC…

His crime, his cronies crimes, his family’s crimes, all rising sharply…

From crypto scams with rugpulling, to grifting people into buying Trump labeled goods, to insider trading and willfull stockmarket manipulation, from breaking the rule of law to punishing political opponents, to taking bribes and giving bribes so not to be accused, from lying about proven data to forcibly adjusting them to his will. And the crime list is growing almost daily…

Each accusation is an admission of guilt.

      and here we are,

you’re validating the fears of the very people you dismissed, in the most backward ‘you might have been right about this’ I’ve ever seen, after decades of making gun ownership a partisan issue.

and then you ask me why haven’t i sacrificed my life to go on a murder spree… to kill your enemies… this is exactly what you are asking.

i don’t see where to join the Northwest Secessionist Forces, or any real opposition group to tyranny right now. what? is schumer going to send another nastygram?

i highly recommend that if you are or know a disabled person, someone on the LBGTQ+ spectrum, or a minority, to get armed and get proficient in its use.

The second amendment loving NRA patriots are furiously masturbating to the fascist takeover of the federal government. Do not for one second believe that they believe in the second amendment to overthrow a Republican president. They absolutely would if a Democrat was president.

The biggest issue gun-owning liberals have is that they lack organization whereas the conservatives have it in spades. We desperately need progressives to begin banding together and laying out a plan on what happens when Trump’s troops march toward Maryland, a liberal state.

We are quickly reaching the point where we need people who are not only willing to fight for our country, but are willing to die for it as well. I suspect many of us here are willing to do the former, but not many of us are willing to do the latter.

You know what fully ended school shootings? The pandemic lockdown. We know what causes school shootings; schools are an underfunded nightmare pressure cooker half a step away from the prison system. We know how to fix it, change the system. Since we rushed back to the system that causes the shootings as quickly as we could, I guess you could absolutely say they died for nothing and will continue to die for nothing, probably until there are no more humans left to die for nothing.

Turns out the solution was to ban schools. I’m surprised republicans aren’t using this to try to ban school altogether.

I’ve often wondered how many people planned mass shootings that they didn’t go through with because of the pandemic.

In the PNW you can buy AR-15s, shotguns, rifles, semi-auto pistols, and more.

I think you’re confusing PNW with New York or some other location with “strict gun control”, which really just means that you travel to another state to purchase firearms anyway.

Firearm sales have tripled since 2000, that’s our bread and butter.

You could argue any and all gun laws are a “barrier” to arming oneself, but no, none of them are in any way whatsoever insurmountable, and amount to “barriers” you can simply step over. You claiming the PNW is unarmed and people there can’t buy guns?

i am claiming what i said. the poster you commented to was being obviously hyperbolic. i don’t know what the gun laws are around pnw. but around here they vary wildly depending on where i go. the point of them was never to be insurmountable, but to be difficult enough to arm the correct people and to dissuade ownership for another.

        And there it is.

Half agree with you, the other half still believe in a sane world where laws matter and mean something.

        Man.

I’ll never own weapons myself. I have one pistol that probably can’t even fire a shot. It’s old, it’s cheap, it’s half broken.

Even if it could, I don’t believe in violence, and even if I did I’m not built for it.

Still, I have studied some history. I know that it is necessary at times. It won’t ever be me though. I couldn’t ever harm another human being.

If that means I lose, fuck it. Life is short anyway.

Genuinely honest reaction from an American- we have reached peak pointlessness.

The American public (in general, on average) is so stupid and ill-informed, staring only at their preferred echo chamber that the majority would rather mobilize against different opinions than have a conversation.

We could self immolate in the streets and it would make absolutely no difference. Opposition would celebrate it. Any method to resist or make change has been well and truly vaporized. Publicly stating our opinion or even stating objective fact is now pointless, as it will be instantly gaslit.
Not a single protest or demostration I’ve attended has made ANY difference at all.

Even right this second, I can hear the sound of Fox News in the office beside mine.

Even in my small suburban town lifted trucks STILL fly a Trump flag and scream and shout out the window at bumper stickers they don’t like.

I can’t say that’s the perspective other Americans have, but I can tell you that’s my perspective. The proverbial “ship is sinking”, the hull has cracked wide open, and all I can do is plan what cardinal direction to “swim” in assuming I survive the capsize, which I almost certainly will not.

Murikkkans would rather live in total shit if it “owns the libs” or hurts someone else worse then it hurts them. One thing is for sure though, people will die - be it through lack of healthcare or some other way. The billionaire class has decided it no longer needs cheap labour. We have plenty of armed citizens, but that’s the hilariously fucked part of it. Gun owners are BY VAST, FARRRRR MAJORITY- Republicans. If it’s not on Fox News they don’t know it, haven’t heard of it, don’t give a fuck about learning it. Even if they suddenly every single one of them realized how fucked they are, and they ALL lined up outside of their local city halls, state capitols, and so on TOMORROW they’d only be answered with the largest “riot control” force ever assembled on the planet with more tear gas than they can imagine. Not one word of their message would be heard, only violence would be televised. We learned that in LA.

People are already going hungry and dying, just not the people you might immediately expect. Right now it’s the low income elderly, (who can’t get medical help to save their lives, the sick, the homeless, and immigrants, who (if they haven’t already been put in camps) are too afraid to even say more than “Hi” in passing when I pass them in apartment halls.

This place is fucked, but most haven’t realized it yet.
