However many days congress doesn’t work should be codified into law to be the minimum number of days off federally mandated to all workers.
They won’t give a shit. It’s not coming out of their or the pockets of those that hold their leashes
Little mikey johnson, always so heroicly running away, away!
Brave, brave sir mikey!
That one was all over everybody’s bingo card. Their tricks and gambits are getting old.
Cant go on record defending him…huh
Aka, they’re betting that their voter suppression works well enough that they can kill the idea after the midterms.
Damn. I really wish whenever there was work that I didn’t want to do I could just say “nah, I’m gonna take some paid time off instead”.
We could general strike. Probably nip that in the bud real quick-like
I really wish people would start general striking
We won’t until there are mutual aid networks everywhere, it’s too risky and right now we’re too fractured
By design.
The weird part is if lots of people did strike mutual aid networks would pop up fast. Minnesota’s response to ICE I think was a great example of this. They organized quickly to support community.
I guarantee if people started striking id be the first to open a free food distribution plan and I know I’m not alone.
I think you’re right, but getting coverage that is wide and deep enough for an indefinite general is daunting and there’s guaranteed to be folks negatively impacted. Hospitals understaffed, food processing, elder care, etc.
Japan I think had a bus drivers strike where they kept working but didn’t charge fares. Automated payments make that harder but some places would need that model to avoid harm, and without real preparedness I’m afraid harm will be unavoidable.
Get involved locally, all. Your neighbors are real people and your best lifeline when things go bad
Need a strike fund first.
Never going to happen. America is the Titanic and that iceberg is dead ahead
Oh, we’ve done hit the iceberg long ago. We’ve been taking on water for a while.
What a bunch fucking arseholes. This has to be a record now for number of days congress has not worked. What the fuck. Oh lord
In a surprise move Tuesday, Massie filed a resolution to impeach Hegseth as “privileged,” meaning the House would need to act on it within two legislative days. That set up a vote no later than Thursday, but then GOP leaders scrapped votes that day, pushing the impeachment vote until after the election.
Lmao
“In a surprise move”? What part of this is surprising? Have these people not been paying attention to the last decade?
I think the surprise move is Massie’s privileged impeachment resolution, not that Johnson is a spineless coward who’s trying to rig as many things as he can
Yah nothing is surprising, id argue its all scripted at this point lol
Must be nice to work five months a year for a six-figure salary, best healthcare on Earth, and all the easy-money stock trades you can handle.
… and have you ever watched them in session? Even when they are “working”, it’s hours of killing time, and a good deal of them don’t bother to show up.
The more you look into it, the more disgusting it gets. Revolting pigs, the lot.
They won’t fix it… they’re paid not to. “They” includes Democrats.
Technically they work for you all. So you should hold them accountable.
I suggest the French method
Don’t worry they will be working. They think it is work to glad hand with their rich owners (so meant donors) that what they will be doing. Fuck the lot of them.
I mean - I don’t want to do it. It sounds like having to do a bunch of bullshit just to maybe kick ball downfield a few times every year.
Was the house out of session like the senate until a few days ago?
Did they really just come back, and then go nah, and leave again?
Barely over two weeks ago, yes. They were just off for a month, now off for another two months. Suck shit, Mike Johnson. Take the rest of your career off.
If I showed up to work drunk everyday screaming about nonsensical things , they’d put me away. Keg stands is no basis for running an military industrial complex.
Supreme executive power…
Derived from the masses
Farcical aquatic ceremony
Moistened bint
Help help
Come and see the violence inherent in the system!
Bloody peasant!
Fucking pussy Johnson is tired of questions. We’re rigging the election, and that’s it! Go home, people!
Mike Johnson is such a chickenshit. I hope seagulls grab him and take him away.
Good idea, it’s nice out I want to leave early today .
Update . I have a job and expectations that I fulfill my obligations in order to earn a salary.
Hey, remember when there was a vote for COVID checks on the agenda and mitch the bitch decided to leave it on his desk for a break…until RBG died and suddenly it was Uber importance to shove another red into the SCOTUS
The rules need to be rewritten. The house speaker and Senate majority leader both have WAY too much power. No single individual should be able to dictate what the entire body does, nor have sole decisionmaking authority to decide what bills can and cannot be voted on. And it should take a majority vote to call a recess.
This sounds like good news for those who want that vote to succeed. The voters will be a little more blue, right?
Maybe yes, maybe no. It could be strategy to make sure representatives who might get voted out in the midterm if they did not vote to impeach, will not have to go on the record, and thus hold their seats.
In other words, rather than having them save Hegseth and then lose their seats, they delay the impeachment, potentially sacrificing Hegseth, to save multiple seats.
