I’m confused, I thought they didn’t like each other? Almost as if it’s all fake sentiment and the real game is the corporate sponsorship. Watching Obama yuck it up with Trump lately was a slap in face. Holy shit, could it be any more obvious. You already have alternatives to the status quo, just vote for them.

First past the post is not democracy, it’s kleptocracy.

I’m calling it now. Musk will fund Cuomo or Adams for the Israel America Party’s first candidate, for Mayor of NYC. The current record for election spending in NYC mayoral elections will get doubled. Media will be overwhelmed with racist, reactionary ads highlighting anything Mamdani has ever said, and some things he hasn’t said, about Israel and linking him to Hamas and other terrorist organizations. Chuck Schumer will have no choice but to change parties, for the sake of Israel America and endorse the third party candidate.

I am fairly certain there is already a third party. Maybe even a 4th or 5th. Americans are just too stupid to realize it and vote for them. It’s engrained in the American way, there can only be 2 teams and mine is better than yours no matter what. It’s why the system is beyond broke.

Disgruntled Republicans sick of being bullied by Donald Trump and Democrat centrists imperiled by the Left are secretly having conversations about forming a third party in American politics, The Swamp can exclusively reveal.

    🤣🤣🤣

@Redditsux if a third party was anything other than a manipulative plot, it would start in the states, gain traction for its stances and success in delivering, and spread to other states.

Any national, top down attempt to form a third party is either psyops or a fool’s power grab.

Wouldn’t that only be true if the third party was running a brand new slate of candidates? If the Republicans and Democrats are in secret talks to form a third party, it’s likely that a whole bunch of incumbents plan to break off from their parties to join the third party. They don’t need to win an election to do that, they could do it right now.

Of course their old parties would try to defeat them in the next election, but if these incumbents have been getting elected for many years then they’d still be hard to unseat even in a different party. Especially so if these members’ electorates are already disgruntled with the existing parties.

@chonglibloodsport There is no indication that current republican and Democratic politicians are working to form a new party. It would certainly be leaked if it were happening.
Musk is shooting off his mouth about forming a third party. Based on his track record, very few, if any, Democrats would join him. He would split the republican party if he tried. It’s probably an empty threat, but I hope he does it and fails spectacularly

They should rebrand to be clearer:

Progressive Party Regressive Party Status Quo Party

    Better yet…

    Forward Reverse Neutral

Yeah, the problem was mostly that the two parties so far were “full throttle” and “no throttle”, and half of these guys are upset that someone found the brakes, while the other half would like to continue on mostly full throttle without overheating the engine because they want long-lasting fascism instead of breaking down on the side of the highway to hell.

I’ve been kinda wanting the progressives to split off from dems for a while now but honestly the shitty dems splitting off from progressives is probably better. Let the people that actually want to do right by their constituents keep the democratic party. All those “center left” people can go create their bullshit third party and fuck off. You won’t hear me complain.

This could be great for progressives. A lot of voters don’t pay attention during primaries and only vote for Democrats because they’re ostensibly left-wing. I can’t see someone like Elissa Slotkin having any viability when she’s not camping on the de facto progressive space.

These people need to get behind electoral reforms then. There’s no reason another party is going to do better than the existing third parties. There’s a reason there has never in American history been more than two viable parties at once. The duopoly is fully enforced by our electoral system.

Lesser evil voting is fully rational in the system we have. You don’t have to like it. You can fight to change it. But that’s just a fact.

The two party system allow both parties to kerp ruinning the country forever . They make them don’t feel the pressure to change anything and listen to people because they know rhey will back to them after 1 or 2 other elections

Lesser evil will never be gone, even if the electoral system is changed to whatever could be perfect. You’ll never align 100%, and that’s OK. Compromising isn’t that bad if the stances aren’t as brain dead as they are right now.
