A bill introduced by House Republicans on Monday would provide $14 billion in funding for Israel, but do it in a way that helps the rich avoid taxes. As a result, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office now predicts the proposal would add nearly $27 billion to the national debt.

An increase to the deficit that Republicans will then use as justification for further cuts.

Honestly, if this doesn’t pass, then the IRS doesn’t getting defunded, and Israel gets less ammo for it’s genocide. I think I’m alright with this.

I’m glad someone did the math. Because the IRS funding was how Democrats paid for part of the Inflation Reduction Act, and that was as scored by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

Seems like getting rid of that funding shouldn’t also be a way to pay for Israel money.

There’s no rule against just doing two things and not paying for it (other than they promised they wouldn’t), I just hate that it was being framed as a pay-for. It obviously is not, and everyone impartial to the politics would tell you that.

Didn’t the irs recently report almost $630 billion in unpaid taxes just from this year? No wonder the gop want them defunded.
