Wait is there a federated podcast app? In what way would that be different than any other?

The default if Congress can’t pass legislation should be that legislation doesn’t happen.
I was fine with like 80% of Obama and like 60% of Clinton’s actual policies while enjoying the economy that I don’t credit him for. But then W Bush was like a 10% and Trump 1 maybe 15% (Warp Speed, passing the vast majority of Covid stimulus, ironically all the stuff he’s against now) and I’m batting zero so far on Trump 2 but I assume at some point he’ll do something I agree with.
I try to keep a sense of perspective, every president I disagree with seems to be the worst president ever at the time.
I really want to say Bush’s useless Trillion dollar wars are worse than this.
But it’s close and we have 3.5 more years of this.
I don’t have a ton of “the court is wrong” opinions, but Article 1 section 8 of the Constitution flatly gives Congress the responsibility of regulating trade and imposing tariffs. The President just doesn’t (shouldn’t) have the authority to change rates. The executive needs to execute the will of the Legislative branch.
This is sort of like the depreciation tax benefit for private jets from the Trump tax cuts. I get it, I do, I just don’t care for the government offering extra help for the types of people in this scenario. Let them manage with their billions.
Haha OK op thinking it was a scam is not racist, calling it “a core value in their society” is a bit racist.
Stock market won’t be abolished. So I guess you gotta hope for 1 outta 2
After the 2016 election, until the 2024 election, the Democrats won every election of every National political body except the House in 2022. It was a solid run electorally.
You can complain about what those political bodies accomplished, but not that they didn’t win.
If you need 50% more person-hours, hire 50% more people.
I want to know what the state of the art AI sex robot is right now. Because they have those realistic-ish sex dolls, and some pretty advanced LLMs that can chat conversationally, and longer term memory is starting to get into the LLM repertoire so your bot can remember things about you and reference them later.
I feel like we’re 3-5 years away from a high end AI prostitute startup becoming huge.
The reason sanctuary cities exist is because law enforcement in those cities needs community buy-in to help solve other more important crimes. A witness to a murder or a victim of domestic violence might not come forward if they are undocumented and might get deported for talking to the police.
No way to really track it because by definition they’re going unreported but I can only imagine what kind of horror show is going unreported due to these raids.
Progressives have even less power. You want them to all resign and retire?
The Democrats in question would likely say they’re upset progressives are getting mad at Democrats as if they have the power to pass bills or do much of anything. Yelling “do something” isn’t helping when your party doesn’t have any power.
Ironically the most power Democrats have is thanks to the filibuster, which Progressives campaigned against for years.
Tariffs too. It’s just a bit of “short term pain”…meaning, for about 4 years until someone comes in and reverses the horrible policies.
I spent his first 4 years hyper tuned in and stressing, and I called 0 Senators, wrote 0 letters, made 0 impact. THAT is the wrong call.
Either stop paying attention or take the time to actually contribute to the political process. Call your local political party and ask what you can do.
He has never won as the incumbent.
This one won’t happen though. It doesn’t have the votes. It would require a Constitutional amendment, and thus a LOT of Democrats on board.
You can’t freak out about every possible thing.
It obviously won’t get close to passing but it would be incredible for Democrats if it did. He has zero margin in the House, nothing major is passing into law except tax cuts. All his executive order policies are inflationary.
So either he’s crashing the economy, taking the blame for continued inflation, or getting nothing of consequence done. And he’d be 83 and asking for four more years. He’d get crushed.
If you think in terms of “lanes” AOC is the only left wing potential candidate on there, 21% support is actually not persuasive in her odds to actually be the candidate.
I feel very good about her chances to run the Bernie playbook and end with a top 3 amount of delegates but in an actual primary the lanes would clear up as people drop out and it is hard to see her consolidating support from like, Gavin Newsome.
