No but it is the first step. If countries no longer have to purchase oil from OPEC in US dollars and they’re able to use their own local currency to purchase oil, that will be the end of the US dollar being the world’s reserve currency. The petrol dollar has had a stranglehold on other countries for decades because it required them to purchase oil that they needed in US Dollars.
Not after June 9
You mean the date that people on Twitter keep throwing around? I’ve yet to see a credible source back this claim up.
I’ve found this very credible source with 20 unrefutable proofs:
https://thesilverindustry.substack.com/p/mark-your-calendars-june-9th-the
This seems to be the source the X post was based on.

I know. But I’m still not using the /s.
The italics were almost enough to show the sarcasm. A true believer would’ve used THIS TO SHOW THEIR EMPHASIS.
Yet there aren’t any sources backing whatever this “article” claims either.
Edit: The source’s source…
No, but it’s made its way to Reddit now, so it must be true.
I think this is a sarcastic post so I’m going to up vote it.
It does however seem like something a tankie would believe without questioning and then spread like gospel, so I’m conflicted.

I think the italics were pretty clear labeling

Saw on the other comment that this is because of the Saudi oil announcement? Is that right?
The 50 year agreement between the US and Saudi Arabia to only trade oil in USD is coming to an end. After June 9 SA can trade oil in any currency
And that marks the end of the USD as the world’s de facto reserve currency?
