I think it’s slightly weirder than that. MSM has been running stories about how weak Biden is as a candidate all year. But when it comes time to vote, turns out it was all bullshit to get attention and clicks.

Now, to them, Biden lambasting the other “serious” candidates is a big story. The media has to pretend it is a surprise since they invented an idea that it might not happen this way.

Like some sort of reverse judo move on yourself.

He IS a really weak candidate, though, just not weak enough to lose to Marianne Williamson and some dude who 99.9% of the population wouldn’t be able to pick out of a lineup.

If he doesn’t stop unconditionally supporting Israel soon or find something extremely popular to do BEFORE November, there’s a huge risk that he’ll lose to Trump and it’ll be HIS fault.

He has don’t tons of very popular shit. Most people ignore it. I’m not like a Biden super fan or anything. He’s fine.

Regarding support for Isreal, I agree. it’s a huge trap though. He could get on the tv tomorrow and demand an end to this. Then when Isreal ignores him, he has shown his whole ass to the world. He isn’t in control but there is a persistent impression that he should be. Helluva trap. Both Hamas (proxy for Iran and Russia) and Likud (ultra right wing theocrats), benefit hugely for the awkward spot this war puts left leaning leaders in Europe and the US. They will continue to fight and the losses of innocent civilians will pile up because it serves the belligerents geopolitical goals.

Not really, no. He’s bragged about huge leaps but he’s barely tiptoed towards what people want and in many cases done the opposite. Like his unconditional fealty to the Israeli government or his claim that the solution to police brutality is throwing more money at cops.

          Most people ignore it.

No, that’s the Politico propaganda line. The MSM keeps acting like he’s this super progressive maverick who doesn’t get enough credit for his heroic deeds, but in reality he’s almost as conservative and almost as corrupt as his good friend Joe Manchin.

He could get on the tv tomorrow and demand an end to this. Then when Isreal ignores him, he has shown his whole ass to the world

No, then he’ll have shown just a minimum of moral fiber and Israel will have shown the world how much they value the “alliance” when they don’t get everything they ask for with no strings attached.

There’s a more direct trap regarding Israel. In 2016, 71% of Jewish voters voted Democrat. That’s a large group that Biden can’t risk. Their support for Israel’s actions is complicated, but a non-trivial portion would flip red if Biden were to side with the Palestinians.

I have been in total agreement about the fucked up position that the Palestinian conflict puts Biden in, but cutting funding to UNRWA based on Israel’s suspect claims was something that I don’t see how I can justify.
