Progressives acknowledging the fact of genocide is a good first step, and it’s useful that Ocasio-Cortez and others have done so — “I think [unconditional aid to Israel] enabled a genocide in Gaza,” she said in Munich — but it is not in and of itself sufficient. Before anyone in the party can move on to selling a post-Biden vision of human-rights-first foreign policy, they must address what accountability for the war criminals in the Biden administration — those who aided, armed, and funded genocide — should look like.

Elections in the United States of America are binary until a 3rd party becomes viable by putting in the work necessary to become viable.
That has not happened. That is not even close to happening. As in, probably not in our lifetimes.
So yes, elections in the United States are 100% binary. To ignore that is to ignore reality.
Anyone seriously considering voting 3rd party in a federal election in the near future is demonstrably a fool.
Like, how do you approach a conversation with someone who will just not live in objective reality? You are expressing a value judgment of how you think people should vote. What you are not doing is accurately representing the actual system of voting, as it exists, in the United States.
You are confusing how you think things should be with how they actually are. Its fine that you think people should think of voting as a binary. But you wanting a thing to be a certain way doesn’t make it that way. And its clear that American voters don’t think of elections the way you want them to. Because of the actual electoral system in the US, voters actually start as non-voters, and have to actively pursue voter registration, potentially party registration, and then also have to actively pursue the activity of voting. This results in a wide range of outcomes, not two.
We’ve established this to not be the case. You can’t just keep repeating something you want to pretend is true and claim it is true. You have to separate your emotional interpretation of what you want to be reality from actual reality, or no one can take you seriously. What you are doing is the blue version of what MAGA does, where they just keep believing in an objectively false thing because dear leader says so.
Again, a value judgement. Sure. They are fools for voting third party. I don’t think any one is advocating for third party, and third parties actually helped Democrats in 2024, as in, third parties drew more votes away from Trump than they did from Harris. Almost as many voters voted for Kennedy as they did Stein. If you combine Kennedy and the libertarian candidate, they outnumber Stein almost 2:1. The only people blaming third parties for the November 2024 outcome are the blue version of MAGA: people who live in a fantastic delusion of their own creation.
The party that the Democrats lost to in November of 2024: the couch. Democrats didn’t lose to Republicans, Democrats lost to voter apathy around the fact that the candidate couldn’t separate themselves from a genocidal pariah state. Voters going 3rd party wouldn’t have made any difference in any state, local, or federal election in 2024.
