Technology@lemmy.world•Anthropic says its latest AI model is too powerful for public release and that it broke containment during testingEnglish
1·1 day agoI don’t think they are lying in the technical sense, it all depends on what they define as “sandbox/continenment”
Redefining terms might not be lying “in the technical sense” but it’s still bullshit.

121·1 day agoMaybe instead of crying about imaginary “AI”… These people should look into why our social lives are so toxic under capitalism that a chatbot is an improvement.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump voter regret is clearly registering now
2·3 days agothey tend not to change their minds based on facts or objective reality.
It’s weird how much people expect the irrational to behave rationally. The state is literally committing genocide and waging war under the pretense of the old testament. I don’t think it’s even possible to act rationally under this death cult. Who can even take this shit seriously?

1·3 days agoThey really thought Iran was going to attack the US, possibly with nukes.
Ofc this disinformation is central to the hegemonic narrative and widely disseminated by NPR, NYTimes, etc. Not to mention the overtly fascist media.

1·3 days agoImperial media obscures the connection. I heard NPR talking about higher gas prices with ZERO mention of trump/iran. And, if they do mention it, they usually blame Iran at least implicitly but often explicitly.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•The UN Voted to Make Food A Human Right, Only Two Countries Voted No: Israel and USAEnglish
1·6 days agoI’m pretty sure that the privileged are well fed around the world.
Approximately 13.5 percent of U.S. households — more than 47 million Americans, including nearly 14 million children — struggle to put food on the table. Here the measure of hunger is “food insecurity” — an ongoing uncertainty of where the next meal will come from. More than 1 in 5 U.S. children are at risk of hunger (1 in 3 among Black and Latino(a) children). To the surprise of many, most Americans (51.4 percent) will live in poverty at some point before age 65.
