as a native Carolinian, I’ve always hated when people say this on either side of the states. both Carolinas are rich in wildlife and preservations that are such a joy to walk through. both Carolinas struggle in similar ways and south struggles a lot more with alt right influences. but there’s a wonderful rich history and land across both Carolinas that it’s hard to say either one is better than the other.
I dont even live in NC anymore but until your state (any state) can claim the Grey eagle in their domain, it’s best just to accept you’re going to be second-best, at best.
I personally prefer Orange Peel in Asheville. But Cat’s Cradle is probably my favourite NC venue. And as far as venues go, no place will hold a more special place in my heart than New Brookland Tavern.
