WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden’s top budget official warned in stark terms Friday about the rapidly diminishing time that lawmakers have to replenish U.S. aid for Ukraine, as the fate of that money to Kyiv remains tied up in negotiations over immigration where a deal has so far been out of reach.

Shalanda Young, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, stressed that there is no avenue to help Ukraine aside from Congress approving additional funding to help Kyiv as it fends off Russia in a war that is now nearly two years old. While the Pentagon has some limited authority to help Kyiv absent new funding from Capitol Hill, “that is not going to get big tranches of equipment into Ukraine,” Young said Friday.

combine the fact that pro-Russia events are popping up around the world with the likelihood that Russia had a hand in equipping Hamas to attack Israel and the end of US support for Ukraine…

Sure look like a criminal-fascist dictator about to be our new daddy.

Blaming Russia for Hamas lmao. Surely it had nothing to do with the 75 years of brutal oppression.

The anger and resentment was caused by Israel… The funding is coming from outside sources.

All that means is that Hamas lacks the resources to resist genocide on their own. If we expect a people under siege to be able to fight off tanks with rocks, then we’re in support of their extermination.

Oh yeah raping people at music festivals is the best way ever to resist oppression.

You know, I remember when MLK raped people at music festivals. Same with Gandhi. That’s actually how the USA got independence from England; they picked a music festival in England, killed some people there, raped some, killed them too, and paraded their corpses around.

I don’t know why it’s so hard for some people to understand that you can have 2 evil organizations fighting each other. Unfortunately it’s the innocent civilians that pay the price for their deeds.

The genocide is helping Hamas keep power.

The people can’t throw these monkeys off their back, and all they want is eternal war because they’re millenarians who think they’re ordained by god to win in the end.

Israel is beyond delusional to think they can eliminate every single one of them. It’s beside the point anyway since Benny uses Hamas to stay in power, too.

How did our attention span get so short? The Russian invasion of Ukraine will never stop being a disaster for the people of Ukraine, the people of Russia, or the stability of civilization. It’s no less urgent now than it was at the start of the war, but lawmakers act as though it’s business as usual. Sad to see.

It’s fucking embarrassing that the Democrats have been the only ones really pushing for aide… the party of war hawks have made clear how flexible their core values are.

We’ve known for about a decade now that the Republicans are on the Russian payroll. The war in Ukraine impedes their goals and has stifled their funds. They are traitors to the United States and her people and enemies of democracy.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden’s top budget official warned in stark terms Friday about the rapidly diminishing time that lawmakers have to replenish U.S. aid for Ukraine, as the fate of that money to Kyiv remains tied up in negotiations over immigration where a deal has so far been out of reach.

Shalanda Young, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, stressed that there is no avenue to help Ukraine aside from Congress approving additional funding to help Kyiv as it fends off Russia in a war that is now nearly two years old.

Young also detailed the impact that a lack of additional U.S. aid would have on Ukraine aside from its military capabilities, such as Kyiv being able to pay its civil servants to ensure that its government can continue to function amid Russia’s barrage.

“Yes, Kyiv might have a little time from other donors to make sure they can keep their war footing, keep the civil service, but what happens in the (European Union), in other NATO allies, if the U.S. pulls out their support?” Young said during a breakfast with journalists Friday hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.

Young, a veteran congressional budget staffer, added that the situation was “dire” and “certainly, we’ve bypassed my comfort level” in the time that has gone by since Congress greenlighted new funding for Ukraine.

That ask from Biden also included about $14 billion in managing and caring for the high number of migrants who continue to arrive at the southern border, and the president has said he is willing to negotiate with Republicans to accept some policy changes that would tighten asylum and other migration laws — a key demand of GOP lawmakers.

I don’t think the Democratic establishment will ever understand the simple fact that Republicans don’t negotiate in good faith. They are the party of grievance, and any successful negotiation would weaken their hold on their base.

It was the Russians who violated the Minsk agreements. Ukraine was never going to join NATO. Russia invaded Ukraine because Putin was mad they wouldn’t join his little Eurasian Economic Union shithole. He thought that “American influence” had lost him his Ukrainian subjects, and threw a hissy fit.

Ukraine is an independent democracy, and the Russian speakers in Ukraine will never forgive Russia for slaughtering them.

This is completely false. Also, Ukraine has been begging to join NATO since Russia invaded. Western Europe rightfully refused to allow their inclusion (because it’d start WW3) and told them it was tough luck that the Ukrainian Regime was foolish enough to believe the Brits and Americans. They should’ve gone along with the peace negotiations Russia offered in 2022 or just honored the Minks agreements.

              No.

Ukrainian polling has consistently shown that Ukraine did not want to join NATO before Russia invaded in 2014. Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich gave a 25-year lease of Sevastopol to Russia in 2010 in order to give guarantees that Ukraine wouldn’t join NATO. US President Barack Obama constantly said Ukraine wouldn’t join NATO.

Nobody wanted Ukraine to join NATO up until the Russia invasion of 2014.

Heres a really good video by Sarcasmitron on YouTube talking about the history of Russia and NATO post-USSR.
