Harry Dunn, a U.S. Capitol Police officer who defended the building during the Jan. 6 riot, is joining a wide field seeking the seat being vacated by Democratic Rep. John Sarbanes in Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District.

Dunn, 40, who was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal and Presidential Citizens Medal and published a memoir last year called “Standing my Ground,” announced his candidacy for the Democratic primary on Friday, almost exactly three years after a day that he said took a toll on his emotional health.

“On January 6th, 2021, I did my duty as a police officer and as an American and defended our nation’s Capitol from violent insurrectionists,” Dunn said in a release on Friday. “Today, I’m running for Congress because the forces that spurred that violent attack are still at work and as a patriotic American, it is my duty to defend our democracy.”

    Are they all bastards though?

You don’t think there’s any of them out there trying to actually help?

If you think it’s all about getting power and bullying others, then I’d say you’re showing us what human dynamics you think have the highest value. Like a form of projection.

There are genuine people that actually do want to help that work in these fields.

Would you want to keep showing up to the worst day of peoples lives and see how you can help? Like the constant shootings, stabbings, car crashes, or domestic violence for example.

If it was all about power, there’s way more lucrative industries that require half the effort.

I have no idea what this dude’s background is like specifically, maybe he is a bag of shit, but it’s unfair to lump every individual person into black and white categories

Their sole duty is to enforce the laws based on white supremacy regardless of who they might be at home.

The system within which they work is inherently and systemically racist. That system puts property above life and intends to secure and protect property at all costs. Indeed ACAB

That being said. If elected he will no longer be a cop and may in fact enact positive change for those in his district. Until I see his platform and his associates I withhold judgement as I believe all humans can reform and improve. When we dehumanize all people on the basis of their history and do not take their current behavior into account we are just as bad as the fascists we hate.

There are rare cases where officers change their stripes or naively enter into police work thinking they can reform departments from within.

Look to Sgt. Isaac Lambert and other whistleblowers that are now actively campaigning for either abolition or reform.

Wait… What? Did you just say that all laws are based on white supremacy? I can’t possibly have read that right.

So like… Don’t molest children. If you enforce that law… It’s white supremacy. Rape? Murder? Mugging?

They dont enforce laws on any of those issues. By the time those events happen is up to the purview of the courts.

SCOTUS has ruled they are not obligated to protect or serve.

They are still kind of sort of part of getting them into those courts…right?

Yes I know what the SCOTUS said and thats a whole other fucking can of worms. What I think needs to be done to fix the police in this shithole country is a LONG FUCKING RANT but im just saying…you know. Its not inherently racist to have laws and enforce them. We just have a bunch of racist fucks who need to be fucking dealt with HARSHLY enforcing them racially.

Obviously laws don’t exist in countries where white people are a minority. But if they did, and they hired citizens to enforce it, they’re now racists and bigots forever

The funnier part is if you think this through to its logical conclusion he’s saying only minorities commit crimes as the laws to stop the crimes are white supremacy.

It’s not the first time ive seen someone trying so hard to show the are not racist that the end up saying some racist fucking shit.

Haha yeah I’ve seen the same. A lot of things I see people saying today all feel like part of the Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit song where shes singing

when logic, and proportion have fallen sloppy dead, and the white knights are talking backwards <- And the red queens off with her head

Just remember what the dormouse said
