    Like when I give my landlord money he has to jump through all sorts hoops like “make sure my apartment is habitable”

    I don’t think that really helps explain anything to psychopaths like DeSantis, TBH. He’d be more like “WTF are you talking about, you pay your landlord because he’s entitled to it and you get whatever shithole conditions he deigns to provide.”
