Okay tin foil hat time.
Because controlling popular media is an important part of US governance / military recruitment strategy, and they invest a lot of money and effort in getting people to watch the right things at the right time
Only sorta serious, but I really do believe it may be a factor and probably applies to other countries
These days we sure do get a lot of hunger games knockoffs
There is no MPAA or RIAA for books that would give enough of a shit
This is the reason. Book publishers don’t have the resources to go after pirates the way Hollywood and the music industry do.
Detection - books are far smaller in size
Lawyer cost - the ISP only does it when they get a notice, which is costing someone money. Studios have far more money to work wi… oh, wait, that’s right, studios are going bankrupt from the piracy, so I guess the lawyers for them are pro bono.
Added: some books might have some effort behind them. I would guess Harry Potter books were pursued to some extent, but even at their size it’s a small footprint to look for unless someone isn’t using any effort to conceal what the files are.
Its funny to see Portnou’s first endeavor into piracy. First it was asking about how to connect QBittorrent, then asking which VPN to use (they didnt follow recommendations and picked the wrong one), then asking how much storage it takes to download the ‘entire internet,’ and now asking about why they can’t torrent without a VPN.
Tune in next week for How can you telll the difference between a good defence lawyer and a bad one?

I will ever regret using my sister in laws last name. Always had a VPN it’s just remarkable that now the majority use it so much they run commercials with Shaq of all people. I remember when they were free for the first 6 months and you had like 5 countries to choose from. But hey if it won’t get me ban I’ll take the best answer’s from my post’s and start a community. That way the new generation can learn and have respect for us old sea dogs.
I have gotten an ISP copyright letter for a book torrent before I was using VPN for torrenting, it happens. Not DMCA though.
Because the film industry got its shit together quicker. Almost as quick as the RIAA. Publishing is also a smaller margin and lower grossing industry, unfortunately.
