So this article just popped up on my guardian feed…wild stuff. I’m not a fan of Musk but you gotta admit this is pretty interesting.

“I’m not sure it’s necessarily legal in all jurisdictions,” Musk said, adding that the prototype was “not necessarily a safety optimised car but it takes the fun meter to 11”.

It’s not the first by far. There are plenty of small series flying cars. All in the range from 100k to milliions of $.

The ludicrously stupid claim that this is the “first” flying car is trivially disprovable by a two second internet search. Elmo missed it by nearly a century, although it really shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point to learn that he’s lying through his teeth basically every time he opens his mouth. Apparently there are still a couple of people in the world who have learned nothing from the results of his other product announcements including but not limited to “self driving by next year” for the last decade, “bulletproof” glass that can’t stop a baseball, and “you’ll be able to use your Tesla as a robo-taxi and have it make money for you on the side.” These few credulous individuals must exist, because otherwise we wouldn’t keep giving him press.

Forgive me if I start sounding like Thunderfoot, here, but where’s everybody’s 2nd gen Roadster, asshole? Have you refunded those preorders yet? You can’t even manufacture the cars you promised everybody that would only go along on the ground.

I suspect the real reason that there was nobody in that car is because it was a prop, stripped out barely functional shell to save weight.

We can only be so lucky. Wild stuff is it not. There is this weird dichotomy where you have to see it for what it is as publicity stunt, but then also realize there are enough stupid people in the world to look at it and go yah I wanna ride in that…just crazy.

It doesn’t fly, it jumps. Those are not rockets, it’s compressed air.

I am excited, however, to see people having their day in court due to this machine. “Technically, your honor, I went over the red light, not through it.”

Also I’d say sitting inside during jumps and stuff will act out a bit of strong force on the body and aside that not working for everyone minor failures would be very harmful.

So all in all pretty idiotic to begin with and of course let’s not forget that Elon is a literal nazi and still news arrive as if nothing happened.

      Epstein files too ofc.

There was a week about six or so weeks ago where there was a new bad story about Elon every single day, and I made a video about it for my channel, as even though he’s a piece of shit and his tech is shit, it’s rare that he gets a new headline every single day.

Researching that video opened my eyes a little about the fact that he may be the most confidently incorrect person on earth, and people just ignore it. Not the kind of person you want to trust your safety to for sure.

Wild, I wonder if that falls under the firehouse of shit we have seen from certain media organizations where any news is seen as a positive as long as you are in the news cycle being discussed despite how horrible that news maybe. It seems to work on simple minded/smooth brained folks.

From what I can tell, Elon just doesn’t speak to anyone who actually challenges him in any meaningful way. I had a chapter in my video that was just a laundry list of all the shit he’s been wrong about, whether it was the number of cybertrucks Tesla projected to sell, putting a base on other planets/the moon, or putting a million robots in his factories.

He’s basically always wrong and every podcaster and media personality just gushes over him and pretends he’s a special personality, when objectively, he’s a dumb motherfucker who’s exceedingly confident and great at taking credit for other people’s ideas.

Excellent points. The submarine in the Thai cave incident is when the aha moment clicked in my head that he is just a vocal khole addict that pays people off to promote his propaganda. Its non stop…just like trump, they can do no wrong likely because they are paid to spin it in a positive light regardless of the topic.

It took me longer. The moment it clicked for me was the incident where he carried a sink around Twitter’s offices.

That really made it apparent that he’d become radicalized to a moronic point, and then he goes and drops two Nazi salutes on national TV. I legitimately hate that man and I hope, when the AI bubble pops, that it severely harms his finances and his psyche.

Explain to me what I should find interesting? Its not the first ‘flying car’ we’ve seen. There’s nothing technologically or scientifically ‘new’ going on. Its not even interesting from a design perspective - it looks like every other roadster and borrows heavily from Lambo.

How many cars have you seen driving upside down? I would venture to say it has been zero. It’s not new from a technology or scientific view, just the first time someone has taken an existing tech, turned it to 11, then put it in a real demonstration. Ignore who made this or what the car looks like. This is something we have seen in unrealistic and silly racing games since the 90s, but now it’s a real thing.

I’m not drinking anything. Like I said, I hate Musk, Tesla, and SpaceX more than nearly anyone, since I have been personally involved with them as part of my job. I’m upset because all of you are acting just like the far right when they don’t like about something. Yes, you have a valid reason to hate Musk, Tesla, SpaceX, Twitter. Yes, you don’t have to care about this and can think it is unnecessary and stupid and dangerous. But saying “turned it to 11” is not some praise of something. It is just a fact. Like saying “adding a specialized housing to turn a 10 megaton nuke into a 100 megaton nuke is turning it to 11” is not praising the people creating a nuke. It is a statement of fact.

This isn’t new tech. F1 cars have been doing stuff like this to keep their cars on the track. This is just taking it to an extreme and demonstrating what they knew was possible but didn’t have any reason to do so.

The extreme is what’s so annoying about this. This is a dude who already spent more money on the midterms than the previous Trump election, where he paid people if they said they’d vote for Trump.

I don’t think it is ‘cool’ that a car has rocket features, unless it is the batmobile. That gets apass. Because it is in a fictional universe and isn’t making the real world worse.

FYI if anyone was curious this “collaboration” is actually just his way for muddying the waters between Tesla (who is hemorrhaging money) and SpaceX (who is propped up by Gov Contracts thanks to his political connections) and Xhitter (a way to avoid political campaign contributions tracking).

The dude knows Trump is losing power and his money can only keep him out of trouble so much and he fucked up mixing money/resources between companies.

Literally going to be another Elizabeth Holmes.

Even that isn’t exactly novel but I’d be interested to see it operated outside of the closed, pre-designed environment they showed it off in. I would be willing to bet good money that it operates in this exact environment but couldn’t replicate this stunt - or really do anything of note - in a “live” environment. We’ve seen this from masturbatory rich person marketing stunts before many times.

  • There have been more than 1 working flying car prototypes in the past so it’s actually not the first one. The problem with a flying car isn’t even getting a car to fly; it’s how you’re going to regulate it for safety when everyone has one.
