Prosecutors in the justice department’s civil rights division are seeking criminal charges against Cassidy Hutchinson, a former top Trump White House aide who gave explosive testimony to the committee that investigated the US attack on the Capitol, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The potential charges involve lying to Congress, the person said.
Hutchinson, a former top aide to the White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, told the panel among other things that the deputy chief of staff for operations told her that Trump did not want to return to the White House on January 6 and at one point grabbed the wheel of his SUV to try to join supporters at the Capitol. Republicans have long disputed this account.
In her 2023 memoir Enough, Hutchinson alleges that Rudy Giuliani groped her backstage during Trump’s speech on January 6, 2021.[27] She also wrote that then-Congressman Matt Gaetz made “repeated passes” at her and asked her to “escort” him to his room at Camp David in 2020.[27][28] In 2024, House Speaker Mike Johnson’s staff advised Representative Barry Loudermilk against subpoenaing Hutchinson’s texts, due to the risk of public exposure of “sexual texts from members who were trying to engage in sexual favors” with Hutchinson.[29]

Whether or not Trump did what she said she heard, that doesn’t mean she wasn’t told that. That isn’t purjery. It’s hearsay. Unless her source is saying that they never said anything even close to that to her, even if it is possible she misheard, that’s not perjury. You’d have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that she made it up wholecloth.
Arrests and show trials, and soon a lot more televised executions.

I mean trump commits one a day at least in front of news cameras, often following up his criminal admissions with some word salad like “this will get me in trouble, you aren’t supposed to say it, but I’m not joking I mean it literally, I did this terrible crime because I’m so smart”
And then the media goes “what did trump mean when he said he hopes Iran nukes San Diego” and people get on there like hes some complex mystery they must unravel, perhaps it was a joke, perhaps it was an analogy, perhaps it was a veiled reference to the los alamos project?
The worst thing about this regime has been realizing that at every step there was some authority or institution that should have and could have stopped it, but again and again they failed.
