I check Google maps for reviews on local businesses, Amazon reviews for products, but for fediverse instances, AFAIK, there are no reviews
One thing, in the threadiverse it’s generally called a community rather than a “sublemmy”, the urls use /c/.
Though unfortunately I’m not aware of a specific community to request communities, usually the answer around here is “be the change you want to see”, if you want one, try making/running one, maybe it’ll catch on 🤷.
One thing though is its going to be difficult to host something like that on any instance and it remain neutral lol.
I vote to that we call communities lemons
Lemmons
“i read about something in a lemmon” sounds silly. I like it
Can we call it a comm(unity) please? Not everybody in the fediverse uses the Lemmy software.
Even on Lemmy (and also PieFed), they’re officially called communities.
I use mbin and we call them magazines fir some reason.
Community feels more intuitive than magazine to me.
That’s cool. I think we can do better than community but sublemmy isn’t it.
another comment suggested lemon/lemmons which would probably add to confusion but its silly
what is a sublemmy? coming from lemmy /s
AfaIk, they’re officially called communities.
sidelemmies, bylemmies, is what i usually call them instead. officially they’re called communities.
They’re communities or coms on Piefed and Lemmy, magazines or mags on Mbin.
I think the idea is create the community, add some initial content, and then post about it on !newcommunities@lemmy.world
See the sidebar in !communitypromo@lemmy.ca, where you can find some related communities.
Generally people don’t change instances (the site where you made an account) that much, so there is less discussion comparing them. People usually make an account on one site and then don’t move unless there’s a significant issue, and so people tend to only know what their home instance is like. There are some exceptions and controversies, which you might find posted about in places like !fediverse@lemmy.world
Otherwise if you want to discuss communities or request communities, see !lemmy411@lemmy.ca or !communitypromo@lemmy.ca
