      Someone wrote down hearsay passed down through stories for years and then translated it multiple times and people argue interpretations…

      And that’s going off the idea that it was true to begin with… Which most of it logically wouldn’t occur.

      Kinda. The only religions that survive centuries are ones where the holy texts are flexible enough to adapt into whatever the believer wants them to mean. "The Bible says so, " never changes anyone’s mind, it’s just a thought-terminating cliche to reinforce what they already believe. You have to find out what their values are based on.
