LOL it’s not because “they don’t have enough money”, it’s because it gets them to do things they wouldn’t otherwise do, which benefits the public. Like keeping gas prices lower, keeping rent lower, keeping tuition lower, investing in internet infrastructure, creating jobs, etc.
I’m not going to argue the merits of any of these subsidies but people like to act like there’s no logical reason for them to exist.

ostensibly that’s the reason. And sometimes it actually is. But many are obtained through bribery and do not give any real benefits
