It’s going to be really bad this time, and I was watching the talking heads on the news discounting the CBO report by saying “Naw, naw, it’s cool… see it’s going to cause economic growth… everything is going to be fine!”
And I’m like “That’s a lie, and it was a lie when Reagan said it 45 years ago. It’s NEVER ONCE worked out that way.”
But nobody in the media is willing to follow up with that question: “So why didn’t the growth happen all the other times we tried this?”
Our media is uniquely dog shit. It’s one of the problems with having literally fucking everything owned by corporations. If we ever get power again we need to prioritize making shit like fox illegal.
Working as designed. This is the result of media consolidation combined with repealing the fairness doctrine (also a Reaganism).
Now all of the major media outlets are owned by a handful of billionaires and they are allowed, if not encouraged, to bend your opinion to their will.
