Does Trump Really Care About Getting Rid of Nuclear Weapons?

US president Donald Trump says he opposes nuclear weapons, but his administration has taken aim at nuclear nonproliferation programs.

    In his first term he wanted to restore our nuclear stockpile to peak Cold War levels.

    I can imagine two reasons why he might have changed his mind beyond being a feeble old man:

    1. The pressure of toying with World War III actually started to get to him during the Ukraine talks.
    2. He finds the idea of his potential vassal states being nuclear-armed offensive. Guaranteed he will not get rid of a single American warhead, nor will he pressure his employer to get rid of his. Everyone else needs to “vouch for peace” and disarm.
