We’ve voted, we’ve protested, and still, they ignore us. Our government refuses to meet our basic needs while the billionaire class hoards wealth and power. The General Strike is a grassroots network of regular people who know our greatest power is our labor and our right to refuse it. We aim to unite every person and organization fighting for racial, economic, and environmental justice so that together, we can see real change in our lifetimes.

For transparency, I’m Canadian, but I figured I’d share.

    The CHAZ/CHOP didn’t really accomplish anything either. The #1 thing they wanted was cutting the police budget by 50%, how did that work out?

    "While the police department lost a little over 10% of its budget between 2020 and 2021 (mostly because 911 dispatch and parking enforcement were moved), it has been closing that gap since.

    Tellingly, not a single sworn officer has lost their job or pay due to budget constraints. In fact, the department has consistently received more funding for hiring than it can spend."

        For what it is worth the new governor ran on hiring more police. As the former AG Bob’s goal was to massively expand the police state, and he was clear on that. And boy have they been out making shows of force the last two months.

        The current scenario is the State of Washington voted for more police budget, regardless.

        I bring up CHAZ/CHOP because that’s the most notable protest in Seattle, all the others have been EVEN LESS effective. At least Seattle got a permanent mural out of that one.
