“After a careful process, we found five Israeli units responsible for individual incidents of gross violations of human rights. All of these were incidents much before October 7th and none took place in Gaza,” State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel said Monday.
Patel said the findings would not impact arms transfers.
ABC News reported on Friday that the Biden administration had found at least three military units guilty of human rights violations but decided not to withhold military aid to the units because it believed Israel was addressing the findings.
Still pretending the issue isn’t systemic, but it’s better than nothing-
Oh, wait. They decided to do nothing about it.
If anyone has a problem with the source, here’s one you should be fine with:
For some more context, the article says four of the five units have remedied their issues, and the State Department is working with the Israeli government to remedy the issue with the fifth unit. I’m not sure what they mean by “remedy”, but I’m assuming they mean punishing the individuals responsible or something.
So can we, like, stop giving shit to them?
And maybe instead give all that stuff to Ukraine, because I don’t think I’ve heard of any Ukrainian units that the State Department has singled out for war crimes, and I know a lot of Russian units that have.
