President Donald Trump’s Republican midterm convention in Dallas featured a bizarre video that claimed he was chosen by God for a special purpose.
The video, which was also used in 2024, is a modified version of Paul Harvey’s 1978 “So God Made a Farmer” speech, but with a twist: In this one, God makes Trump.
“And on June 14th, 1946, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, ‘I need a caretaker,’” the narrator says. “So God gave us Trump.”
Critics were stunned by the video’s blatant idolatry, especially on a stage where speaker after speaker had attacked Democrats about faith while posturing as defenders of Christianity.

Christian Nationalism doesn’t have anything to do with Christ; rather, it’s a tribal identity you can opt into, if you can shut down your capacity for critical thought.
As the article notes, the video is a repeat from two years ago. There’s really no reason to be shocked by this display now.
I mean, if you saw the AI slop he’s posted where he is jesus healing the sick, and that’s hardly the only one I guess this prick is posting sometimes a slop or meme a minute on his late night sessions, he must have a whole media team on it.
By all rights, these religious people should reject him for their faith, and in not doing so give lie to their stated beliefs.
Obviously they think that it’s ok because he’s doing stuff they think Jesus wants, like bringing about turmoil in the middle east to usher in the rapture where the earth will be drowned in lakes of blood and fire, (finally right?,) after the faithful get brought to heaven.
Exactly.
