      Kali linux is a distro for hackers. It ships with all the tools an average hacker needs. It is not a good distro to use as a daily driver, so it is genrally advised to run Kali Linux in a VM. I use it sometimes to do HackTheBox challenges.

      You can run any kind of OS in a VM. I’ve run Windows in a VM. Just last week I had to run Ubuntu in a VM. My main OS is Omarchy and it was not supported by this software I needed to run (packet tracer). So I quickly spun up a VM with Ubuntu and I’m now running the software on there.
