Patronising tours on your first day where they boast about the great facilities but also lecture you about how to keep the place clean, being considerate to coworkers, not being too loud, etc. I’m not a 8yo.

People who cough and splutter at their desks instead of staying home until they stop.
That not everyone has reached the blatantly obvious conclusion that offices are an anachronism, especially those eye sore tall buildings that lay half empty.
Barrister, like Rumpole of the Bailey.
Lol. Do you have a braille Reddit app or use a screen reader. If Braille do you feel dirty when you feel a dickbutt?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•In a domestic fridge, should milk be lined up, oldest to newest from the hinge, or away from the hinge, and why?
3·4 months agoTo be honest I did the same until a few years ago. I don’t know if milk is just more prone to going bad these days or our fridge gets open more often, but I noticed our milk wasn’t lasting. No science behind it, just that we were pouring more milk away. My missus started putting the milk at the back after she did a bit of research and since then it has been fine. I didn’t believe it either at first but I also did some digging and turns out the door is recommended for chilling items not preserving them.

7·4 months agoThe door suffers from temp fluctuations and is often the warmest part of the fridge. Milk is sensitive to this so it should be at the back of the fridge not the door. The door is just to keep things chilled, or for keeping things from going bad.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's something you were told you'd regret in the future, but you still don't regret at all?

My recent work induction was conducted by the HR dogs. I learnt they get snippy if you point out glaring holes in their operating procedures. My tip is to smile sweetly and stay quiet.
John Peel. He was devoted to all music without prejudice or judgement, and was host on a BBC radio show for years and had on some of the greatest bands ever.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Those of you who don't wash your hands after going to the bathroom, why?
2·5 months agoYes that is an issue. Personally I avoid touching handles in public toilets without some tissue in my hand. I usually grab some on my way out.

3·5 months agoThe door handles and surfaces in public toilets are not clean either. It is not just your own piss that matters.

I wish r/highqualitygifs would migrate to Lemmy.
No one. Professional Football is boring. As a sport it is stupidly over sized. 5 aside is scaled better which makes it way more fun to play and watch.
Football also has too much association with unnecessary violence and hate.
I tried both games years ago. I found them boring, basic, and seemed aimed at young kids.
I don’t usually judge adults for liking stuff meant for kids, there are lots of great games and shows like that. However Dota and LoL both felt very childish at the time. I’m sure it takes a lot of practice and skill to get good, but I’ve never had a desire to revisit either game.
Honestly, at this point, I find judging people who play those games is kinda fun.

The comparison with the nuclear arms race is starting to hit home. The tech has come a long enough now to provide lots of scope for saleable products. Further development into the unknown is obviously dangerous, and they can see international oversight coming, so why not get ahead of the game and look like the good guys.
There is already a team in Sheffield working on exactly what that oversight will look like. I’m sure there are others.
