World News@lemmy.world•Millionaire CEO warns US economic situation could lead to revolutionEnglish
7·9 days agoIf your parents left you a home, you’re probably a millionaire too. Many blue collar working folk are millionaires, except if they tried to spend those millions they’d become homeless.

15·14 days agoI saw the interview and you can look at the guy and how he is talking and it is apparent that he hasn’t left that wreckage yet. The entire time he speaks like he is fighting against that knot in your throat when you’re right about to cry. And losing his family’s business at this state has also got to hit hard.
I hope he recovers, poor guy.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Nothing’s new bloatware includes Facebook services that can’t be uninstalledEnglish
2·17 days agoIt is really worrying how a traditionally lethargic service, banking, is also moving to non-privacy respecting methods. I thought we’d be able to fix this internet panopticon shitshow before banks moved fully to apps.

2·18 days agoWould a website know if you’re using a rooted phone? I don’t think so. Banking apps are different, they might have access to device details but I thought browsers were device agnostic.

2·18 days agoThanks for the info. Usually information like this is locked in forums that are too technical for me. I’ve had a newborn interest in bootloaders after having some issues with grub some time ago and more recently, migrating to grapheneOS.

2·19 days agoIf you’re using a new computer with Nvidia graphics, expect that to be a pain point. I’ve also had issues with the grub bootloader though within weeks I had a mitigation flow. Just remember to have a second computer around to use the internet to troubleshoot, and put important info you need that you work on on the PC on an attached thumbdrive also. This way you don’t have to worry about losing data. Makes the migration a lot more peaceful.

2·19 days agoYes, come over to the dark side. I haven’t had any issues so far, except for the whiplash it is to go from YouTube I scrolled for hours every day to using NewPipe which takes two seconds to load a new video. It has made me very mindful of what I want to watch because from searching to watching I need to wait like 10 seconds.
Haven’t dipped my toes into banking apps though. Thats a frontier I’ll deal with when I get to it.

23·24 days agoLiterally shooed him off like a stray cat from a bakery several times until he wandered off in confusion.
The mitigation measures also sound like a comedy skit, with “a very experienced senior official” being put on task to apprehend the guy. Like hot fuzz where the guy is tasked with capturing that goose.
It would be pretty funny if it wasn’t so serious.

We’re already at least a couple years past doomsday.
