2·12 days ago100%, I honestly wasn’t trying for a holier that thou attitude. Any snark was aimed at the higher ups in my professional life with that audit comment.
I too am guilty of having my personal stuff less than perfectly backed up. It’s better than most, but it is still not what it should be, so, that’s what I mean by it being so easy to not be backed up.

262·14 days agoIt is, but it also sucks that it is. I don’t know why people continue to have such blind spots, but given who and what is behind bluesky, why would anyone, ever think it was ever going to be open or anything but twitter 2.0?
I’m really baffled at why people are so unwilling to learn from history.

4·14 days agoI was job hunting during the doge apocalypse after a layoff, it was tough, so many people fired and looking at the same time. My dad had no sympathy, he kept telling me that it was all necessary, and said that I’d have no trouble because everyone I was competing against were useless government employees anyway.
I don’t talk to my dad anymore.

20·14 days agoIt’s so easy. I can’t tell you how many “backed up” environments I’ve run into that simply cannot be restored. Often people set them up, but never test them, and assume the snaps are working.
Backups are typically only thought about when you need them, and by then it’s often too late. Real backups need testing and validation frequently, they need remote, off-site storage, with a process to restore that as well.
Been doing this shit for 30 years and people will never learn. I’d guess 9 out of 10 backup systems that I’ve run into were there to check a box on an audit, and never looked at otherwise.

5·14 days ago“The salient fact of American politics is that there are fifty to seventy million voters each of who will volunteer to live, with his family, in a cardboard box under an overpass, and cook sparrows on an old curtain rod, if someone would only guarantee that the black, gay, Hispanic, liberal, whatever, in the next box over doesn’t even have a curtain rod, or a sparrow to put on it.”
This quote has always rung true. They do not care how bad they are hurt, as long as someone else is hurt worse.

321·17 days agoThat right there is an example of how the media drives the narrative. The exact same thing can be said about the other party, but they save such loaded language for just the one. It’s designed to sound like a reasonable statement while sparking an emotional response.
Americans are swimming in a sea of propaganda.

10·21 days agoLets him run? Fuck that, they paved the way and ensured it would happen. They are fully complicit in everything that is happening. This has been plain as day for years now.
The coup is over, they have all the power, now the only thing that can save us is their incompetence.

12·23 days agoI agree, it’s multi faceted, and yeah, the dems suck too. I just feel people have agency in this, and sometime, when faced with a difficult decision, adults need to make the best choice. I’m a parent and have to make all kinds of shitty decisions, often involving actual shit. But I’m an adult, and I know that a shitty decision that ultimately supports a good outcome, is still the right one.
I’m 100% in agreement that the dems failed, but so did the electorate.

52·23 days agoEveryone wants to vote for a principled leader, but there are those of us who aren’t willing to give up the tiny bit of power we have just to try and prove a point.
This is a 2 party system, regardless of lip service. Kamala wasn’t my first choice for president but she was the only one. It was her or the other fucker full stop. So, I did everything I could to elect the one who we had some hope of controlling. The dems showed they ultimately listen to their voters with enough pressure when they ditched Biden, the other guy we all knew what was going to happen.
So, to all those protest voters, I’m super happy for you and your maga companions, feeling so proud of yourselves while the country burns.

7·27 days agoI mean, the us knowingly and willfully handed this fucker everything. This on the heels of the Supreme Court essentially making him untouchable. None of what is happening was a secret, it was literally written down in a plan that we all could see.
America decided that a felon, admitted sexual predator, and a the most prolific liar to ever hold office was a better choice to lead us. I’d say we go exactly what we asked for.
Criminal, that fits, evil, that too, disastrous, for sure, but I can’t call them rogue when this is precisely what we apparently wanted (we tried to warn them).

6·27 days agoFixed - “The US news media is succeeding in its mission to prevent the public from knowing there is a possible war with Iran coming”
What did ever happen to that one old lady anyway?

Yep, they will prop his rotting corpse up as long as they can, the plan is to having him be the wrecking ball, take all the blame, but by then the fixes are all in for the next one in line.
Not sure if they will foist vance on us, I don’t think they believe he can be the front of a cult but by they maybe the power will be consolidated enough that they don’t care since he’s just a puppet.
