Hey everyone!

I’ve recently started exploring Lemmy and discovered there are at least seven or eight different apps, clients, and APIs out there that let you browse, post, and interact with Lemmy communities. With so many options, I’m a bit overwhelmed and would love your input on which one(s) you use and why.

A few things I’m curious about:

Platform support: Do you use a mobile app (Android/iOS) or a web-based interface?

Feature set: Which apps offer the best experience for browsing multiple instances, notifications, or advanced moderation tools?

Pros & cons: What do you like most (and least) about the client/API you use? Performance, UI design, stability, etc.

I’ve tried scanning GitHub and the official Lemmy docs, but it’s hard to tell which projects are actively maintained and which give the smoothest experience. If possible, I’d love to hear about:

  1. Your favorite mobile app(s) for Lemmy (Android or iOS).

  2. Any tips on connecting to multiple instances or switching between them seamlessly.

      I use Voyager for iOS and I love it. It’s simple. I just wish we could have more options for the themes. Other than that it’s not a bad app.

      Used Thunder for a while and liked it the most, but it was strangely slow to load posts which led me back to Voyager.

    My favorite app for my phone and iPad is Mlem, an iOS only client.

    Desktop I use a mix of Blorp and standard web interface. I think Blorp is iOS, Android, and MacOS.

    I recently moved to Summit on android and have been very happy with it. It’s extremely customizable so I can configure it exactly as I wanted.

    I used to use Infinity for reddit and someone forked it to replace all reddit references with lemmy references (called it Eternity). I loved that one but the dev kinda disappeared and abandoned it. I was able to configure Summit to be basically the same as Eternity, which I couldn’t really replicate in any of the other app choices.

      I used Voyager for more than 1 year, I’m happy with it but I will try out summit because I like trying alternatives.

    i use mobile apps. i honestly picked purely based on ui design. i personally like Voyager and Thunder the most. i went with Voyager because it allows choosing a post layout per community while Thunder doesn’t (as far as i can tell).

    My favorite is connect because it’s the most customizable. It’s also the buggiest though.

    I would argue Arctic is the best iOS app. It is smooth, has the features I value like custom theme support and gif scrubbing, and developer had been responsive in fixing bugs and adding features when possible. !arctic@lemmy.world

    I’m new to trying Android apps but Eternity has been my main one with Raccoon being pretty solid too.

    Thunder is cross-platform. For desktop UIs, I prefer Alexandrite because of its 2-column layout option that maximizes screen real estate and allows one-tab browsing.
