American sizing is criminal capitalist bullshit without standards. I am a 47. It fits perfectly. American sizing allows brands to fit and size differently to create anti consumer manipulation. The shoes are made in the same places. Just the American targeted junk is exploitive nonsense by design.

Also, are any shoe brands making quality sneakers like existed 5+ years ago? This 3D formed fabric junk is low quality nonsense that lasts a quarter as long as shoes from 5+ years ago. I loved Asics for a long time but everything they sell now is this low quality 3D formed crap.

Exactly. Convert your size to the seller’s size and buy that one. You may need to experiment. Shoe sizes are not scientific units.

Honestly, as toxic as Lemmy is about refusing to accept personal criticism, I’m surprised that you (the person I replied to) haven’t been down voted to oblivion.

No idea about the sizing, but I recommend New Balance or Skechers as good shoe brands. I worked at an orthotics lab and we recommend those as good for your feet and decent durability.

What’s your opinion on Oofos? I wear their slides at home and sneakers outside. They have so far been the plushest footwear I’ve ever experienced.

Haha, let me clarify. I worked at an orthotics lab over six years ago, and even then I didn’t construct them, I did customer facing receptionist and receiving duties, I’m not very technically acquainted with the industry at large, just with what brands we recommended and the fact that I still wear New Balance in a warehouse job and find them comfortable and long lasting.

Sorry I can’t give any better info on that brand, they either weren’t around when I had that job or were small enough that I never heard of customers wanting to use them.

My Brooks running shoes are amazing, they’re like wearing nothing at all and walking on air. Look into those if you want comfort. Idk shit about fashion sneakers though. I just wear Vans when I want something that doesn’t look like dad shoes, and wear boots most of the time.

Do you really think European sizes are some magic loophole to make things fit better? Spoiler alert: they’re all made in the same factory and just use the conversion chart from Google to convert the size

I stopped buying the regular brands for the same reason as you. I found Red Wing shoes and bought a pair of boots as I prefer hiking style boots for daily wear. They do have some “sneaker” type shoes as well.

While I can only speak to the boots I bought, I’ve been super impressed. Great quality leather construction and stitching, and after 3-4 years of constant use the soles look almost new without any major wear. I’ll be buying more from them.

Can’t speak to the European sizing though.
