That’s definitely a problem for them but it’s one that’s independent of the bubble itself - in fact, it’s one that would be solved by the bubble popping! When the bubble pops Trump will be forced to end the trade war, and then China will go back to selling rare Earths to US companies because the trade war is fueled entirely by US aggression.

Nvidia probably has earnings since they’re making a real commodity that they sell for real money to fuel this bubble. When the other companies collapse they’ll be fine.

US production capacity was basically bled dry by Ukraine and Israel. It’ll take years to recover, and Ukraine doesn’t seem to be ending and Israel is itching to start up again. Plus, it wants war with Venezuela too?

Maybe this is why they want to get rid of the computer touching jobs and get us back in the factories, so we can build their war.

Hope is for people who want to sit around doing nothing while they wait for things to spontaneously get better all on their own.

I want some evidence of remorse.

Yeah he just joined one of the most evil armies on Earth and loved it, got a Nazi tattoo, and did war crimes. Practically a saint!

“People” is a strong word.

It’s in the US too, they just aren’t testing because of the shutdown and deregulation.

Why would they want someone electable? Then they’d have to govern i.e. make people mad by breaking all their campaign promises. It’s far better to lose and then collect donations from people scared about the fascist power grab.

When I was younger it seemed politics were more rational and cruelty never seemed to be the point of doing nothing.

The cruelty was outside our borders. The rational, reasonable debate was for domestic issues. Foreigners got the bullet.

As the empire collapses the cruelty turns inwards i.e. fascism.

Mamdani is winning because he promises to give people things that they want: affordable housing, affordable groceries, affordable childcare, etc. Real, material change that will improve lives.

But we need to be able to identify our enemies, and know how to hate them. It’s a powerful motivating tool.

Don’t get in the mud with the pigs. Grab a hatchet.

In the past we’d call them wealthy landed peasantry, but under capitalism they’re just petite bourgeoisie.

I don’t think saying “he’s desperate” matters, who cares if he’s desperate? That’s horse-race politics.

Their misstep, here, is to call it “disqualifying” as if being racist and Islamophobic weren’t requirements for most of New York’s history.

It’s not disqualifying, it’s proof that he is the enemy and he must be crushed. He wants to drag New York backwards and that makes him an existential threat. Don’t whine about the rules or decorum, highlight the danger and promise to destroy it.

The secret to increasing profit is to cut costs, always, no matter what. Research? Workforce development? Safety? Just keep cutting costs, shareholders love it!

What do you mean we’re falling behind? We’ve cut so many costs, growth is infinite!

There’s also longer work days (it’s not like peasants spent very much time farming in the middle of the winter) and less work shared between the clan/gens/extended family. Our time is spent productively, it’s just that almost all of it is spent working for a wage and and doing chores to maintain a living space. A few minutes squeezed in to relax isn’t the problem.

That pales in comparison to the massive time investment of having a full time job and taking care of a living space by yourself (cooking, cleaning, shopping, repairs, etc). This is unique to our era, we used to not work as many hours and we used to live in more communal family spaces where work was evenly shared so that everyone had lighter loads.

The fact that I can squeeze in 20 minutes of posting a day isn’t the reason I can’t go on 3 hour walks like I used to.
