There’s this NPR episode I heard where they said that the codes to the nuke should be in someone’s heart and that person carries a suitcase with a knife. To get the nuke, the president should plunge the knife into that man to do it. It’s absolutely horrific and bloody but to kill many from afar you should at least be able to do one up close. I think that the person that recommended it said he’d be the first volunteer and would love that job. He’d make best friends with the president and get to know their kids, just to make the decision absolutely impossible.

I’d like to think that’s what they were getting at? Your response to the thought experiment seemed confusing at first but I think what you’re getting is that they’d just send the kids to safe areas of the war, rather than anything real anyways, right? which makes sense … politicians would weasel to get their own skin out. I’m not 100% sure why that’d lead to a draft? Do you mean in retribution they’d take it out on others and protect their own?

I use iFixit’s guides all the time, so I would hope that their score isn’t affected by it. I’ve seen them as being fairly good at their role.

It “can” be … it’s just what people are more familiar with sometimes and new terms that seem native like: “control panel” “command prompt” “regedit” can be strange to people that haven’t. It’s not that they can’t learn it, it’s just a bit of an uphill battle.

I get why people like Valve so much (I like some of their services too) but there’s too much deification. It’s like “oh mighty Gabe!”. I get some of it was tongue-in-cheek a bit initially but it seems so many people take it seriously.

They’re a company that provides some services I like but the gambling shit is bad especially when you see people on YT talking about how they were lured in when they young and how much money was lost and how many streamers were running scam companies. It’s not good.

The thing I’ve heard about Google is that there isn’t as high of a career path for people that want to maintain software and keep it running well. If you can create a new app or service and it gets X downloads then you can ask for more money and a lot of SWEs will game that. So, far better to add to the graveyard than anything else.

I like my frame because it faces a set of windows and with all my other tvs … I would have to close the blinds to see the tv in the day time.

However, the software is straight garbage. I didn’t even know about the favourite thing … every time I change source it would spend like a minute or two trying to figure out if it could connect to it for no reason.

Dear God. My friend sent me a video about some Japanese person with some cooking method or something that he recommended I should make try. The video he sent me was annoying as fuck. It was a couple screaming at each other: “OMG IS THAT THE NEW JAPANESE ____ METHOD?” “YES I THINK I’VE HEARD OF THAT” interspersed with the actual narration-free video. Had to stop it after 4-6 seconds.

I asked my friend how he could even stand watching it the video and he said his brain filters it out. I don’t know why it just repulsed me so much.

There’s also many videos with some person just playing another’s person’s video and they just point a finger upward to the actual playing video with some useless look on their face and the nodding.

I think this is the nature of these TikTok videos but I’m not really on TikTok much, I just get them sent to me every once in a while.
