  • I’ve been using it recently for generating alt text for images (my bots on Mastodon and Aunty Madge on !yoursinclair@retrolemmy.com specifically). It’s pretty good at that, although does sometimes give weirdly wrong details - especially the TED Music Bot, if it gets the usual +4 startup screen it says it’s +4 on key F1, instead of 3-plus-1, and tells me the wrong colours for the text and background (I think it may be getting it confused with the C64, bit the colours are right there on the image!). It’s infinitely preferable to having no alt text, which would be the alternative.

The other thing it’s really good at is summarising articles.

I’ve also used it when I’ve had an error in my code I can’t track down, or a bracket missing that I can’t figure out. It quite often gives nonsense but I’ve had some success. Usually a normal web search is perfectly adequate though!

  • Press Enter.

I see from your photo that it’s a Lenovo - pressing Enter to interrupt normal startup will give you a menu which then lets you get into the BIOS.

If it doesn’t go past the “press Enter” point you might need to remove the HDD (or whatever storage it has) and try again. Reconnect once you’ve changed the settings back.

I’ve not been to Bucharest airport so I don’t know how big it is or how it is laid out. However, usually you will go to check-in and baggage drop for Lufthansa - they will have an area which is labelled up, you might need to walk around a bit but the check-in areas should all be next to each other - and they will give you a boarding pass. You then need to follow the signs to the gates. That will take you through security and usually to an area with duty-free shopping. You’ll see some boards there which will tell you which gate you need (look for your destination and the flight time or number). Sometimes they don’t announce it until the last minute. You’ll then need to follow the signs to that gate, it can be a bit of a trek if it’s a big airport (allow plenty of time to get there - I’ve had it where I’ve walked a fair way, past lots of other gates, then ended up having to get a monorail, followed by a bit more walking). When you are at the gate, wait until they call you for boarding. If it’s a big plane you’ll walk down a tunnel directly onto it, otherwise you’ll be sent outside and have to climb up the steps.

Airports can be a bit daunting but they tend to be very well signposted and lots of staff around to ask if you get lost.

    Enjoy your trip!

(Also don’t get used to business class - he’s been generous there, you’re very lucky)
