  • This is the exact bullshit we could brand someone that follows Islamist ideology with.

The major difference: Islamist groups purposely (as I recall learning in a college level North American religions course taught me) twist actual Islamic ideology while the Christian Right just doesn’t understand the religious text they claim to follow.

EDIT: Going to Trump rallies could be equated as the Christian Right version of terrorist training camps.

EDIT 2: My point about describing someone who assassinated people as “religious”, will place a false connotation on a group. It either paints the killer as misguided or followers of that religious faith as bad people. This is what happened with 9/11.

  • Wow, this is exactly what someone who 1. doesn’t practice real Evangelical Christianity would say 2. would believe not having studied the most basic of United States history.

The separation of Church and State is exactly that. The Colonist came to North American because they didn’t like how the Church of England was being operated. In practice they might not have wanted other religious groups to have such freedom but if you try to take the Bill of Rights and Constitution at face value, then you as a person in the United States government have no reason to judge them for being a non-Christian. Much like how I much challenge you to prove you belong to a well regulated militia when you own a gun.

No it isn’t but I still refuse to choose on purpose to listen to that song. I don’t even know the name.

EDIT: Just to be clear, I can’t stop from hearing the song out in the wild. However I will not seek it out. I just do not want to hear a song purposefully made with AI in such a manner. I’m still bitter that LOVE won a Grammy over the soundtrack to Across the Universe. They only gave the award to LOVE because George Martin was involved in it.

  • This type of advertising isn’t new. There is that famous (although the claims from the father have been questioned) New York Times article written by Charles Duhigg in 2012. A father of a teenage girl in Minnesota got upset for receiving coupons from Target for infant care related products. As the story goes, he later learned his daughter was in fact pregnant. It turns out Target was using some predictive algorithm to identify would-be mothers and straight up sending them coupons for infant care products. It seems ever since this article was published that they stopped doing this in such a direct manner. Again, there have people who questioned the validity of the claims for this specific story, but Target did confirm they were doing this.

  • Off the top of my head I don’t know if PBS (likely the same as NPR) but NPR is not funded by fucking Congress!!! You fucking idiots don’t know what Congress does or does not fund. NPR gets grants from CPB (Corporation for Public Broadcasting) which was created by the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967, which LBJ signed into law. CPB only accounts for 1% of NPR’s annual budget.

If the dumbass wants something legitimate to complain about, then complain about what CPB gives grants for.

EDIT: I realize the article mentions CPB, and I clearly wrote this before reading it. My point stands. Congress does not allocate any money directly to either NPR or PBS. If these cultural institutions are going to be attacked by clueless people, someone better be explaining what they got wrong.
