While that’s obviously very sad and tragic the purpose of criminal justice should never be vengeance or an eye for an eye. It should be about rehabilitation and reintegration. Yes it’s awful that a life was lost but functionally removing another life from society for forever is hardly a good solution.

I’m surprised they kept it up for so long honestly. It was very clear they had no fucking clue what they were doing. What with the nonsensical license that violated Github’s tos, the Dolby Code they leaked, and the fact they kept every commit public for everyone to see.

Law enforcement has little to do with anything here. Nobody is trying to arrest him or press charges. But a guy with a compelling rape allegation levied against him should under no circumstances be allowed to serve on the highest court. It’s utterly baffling that he’s there. But here we are.

If your only real evidence is witness testimony the death sentence should be fully off the table. It’s insane that we’re putting people to death based on someone’s words. If you don’t have absolutely full proof evidence that someone commited a crime there is absolutely no justification for erasing their existence. I am absolutely sick and ashamed to be an American when I read these stories.

This process is akin to how humans learn by reading widely and absorbing styles and techniques, rather than memorizing and reproducing exact passages.

Machine learning algorithms are not people and are not ingesting these works the same way a person does. This argument is brought up all the time and just doesn’t ring true. You’re defending the unethical use of copyrighted works by a giant corporation with a metaphor that doesn’t have any bearing on reality; in an age where artists are already shamefully undervalued. Creating art is a human process with the express intent of it being enjoyed by other humans. Having an algorithm do it is removing the most important part of art; the humanity.

Nintendo really only has a history of taking down fan remakes of existing Nintendo games or games that are charging money. They’ve never to my knowledge had a free fan game or romhack taken down nor do I think they’d have any sort of legal grounds to do so even if they wanted to. And this essentially boils down to a ROM hack. Which is almost certainly completely safe from Nintendo’s lawyers since it doesn’t contain any Nintendo made assets.

He’s definitely like actually supposed to be president in a GTA game. Somehow he’s just in the real world fucking confused, spouting shit that’d go over great if he was on a GTA talk radio show.

Its completely baffling to me that anyone takes Republicans seriously. All they do is obstruct any and all legislation so that nothing can ever get done. And once someone actually manages to help people through legislation they try to spin it like somehow feeding kids is a bad thing.

Plus they don’t even need to be profitable. They just have to convince some rich losers that they might be profitable at some undetermined time in the future.

I mean it’s not like Human exploration of Mars is even viewed as remotely doable right now.

And I think there are more glaring signs here on earth that we may not be around much longer.
