Ah so it’s an overflow bug

Exactly!
Is your keyboard app secure (yes seriously)? Does you device store notification details? Can your notifications be viewed without unlocking the device?
Those are all little concerns that need to be considered.

The fires from EVs (ones that use lithium batteries that is) are incredibly hard to extinguish.
Sodium ion batteries don’t ignite which makes them even safer.

“But Teslas are electric and Teslas are bad!” -the person we’re replying to.
It’s like the commenter doesn’t realize there’s more electric cars than just Teslas.

So the article’s source has been updated. Tesla was number 1 in the last year’s report (2024’s numbers) but it’s number 3 now (2025’s numbers).
Source used by the article you shared
TLDR: It’s a close battle between BMW (44.9 per 1000), Ram (44.7 per 1000), and Telsa (42.8 per 1000)
EDIT: “That includes accidents, DUIs, speeding and citations” If you instead just isolate accident rates it’s slightly different: Ram (23.9 per 1000), Subaru (23.2), and Tesla (23.1).
I should clarify that I’m not a fan of Tesla AT ALL. I’d love to see Tesla fail (in particular Elon failing especially). There’s more electric car’s than just Tesla’s.

I recommend installing Ventoy on a USB stick, then putting some ISOs on there of various distros to try. Like CachyOS, Bazzite, or perhaps Kubuntu.
You can boot into them straight from the Ventoy USB stick without having to format the USB between new tests.
And if you end up liking one over the others you can install straight from the stick.
You can do it, I believe in you random internet stranger!

IDK that seems pretty invasive
Perhaps just GRUB and waiting for my input one extra time to confirm I actually want to use my PC at that time

YouTube broke my RSS feed for YouTube subscriptions by breaking how embedded videos works.
Now when I try to click on videos in my RSS feed it just gets me “Error 153” every time.
It’s so frustrating!
I’m currently using Feedbro on Firefox (the add-on hasn’t been updated in 2 years) but if anyone has any recommendations that don’t get that error I’m all ears!

“Want to know how I got these scars? The Great Nerf War.”

Totally understandable why you’d change career paths from farming to computer related things, that shit is hard AF and a nightmare.
Solar farms though are way easier than other kinds of farms though, in fact I’d say it’s closer to computer work than farm work.
Basically monitor output, keep the panels clean, and keep debris to a minimum around the panels. Oh and of course repairs, but without moving parts those repairs are gonna be happening less often than other kinds of power generation.

NGL I was excited to hear the news of official GrapheneOS devices coming, hopefully they won’t just be their flagship devices but the whole product stack.

That’s cool, still leaving though.
I ain’t submitting my ID to anyone over the internet.
This is a place of anonymity, not for proclaiming from the rooftops who I am on here.

That’s the hard part really, finding a new group chat platform.
My friends and I are switching to Matrix but finding a community there is gonna be a bit tough.
We all become too dependent on Discord and now we’re paying the price when we try to leave.

With each passing year this comic ages more and more like wine.

It’s like all those articles that read “The vehicle struck…” instead of “The driver struck…”, “A shooting then took place…” instead of “The officer then shot…”, etc, etc.
It’s a deflection of blame and whenever I see it it makes my blood boil.

One quick hack to make the shareholders happy with how much money you’ve been putting into a failing project: rename a successful one to the failing project’s name.

I’ve literally seen pants that have what looks like pockets but when you actually check there no actual pockets there. It’s like they cut the hole, made the folds, then stitched them closed.
It blows my mind!

asymptomatic long-COVID
The hell even is that? Asymptomatic means no symptoms. Long-COVID isn’t a contagious thing, it’s literally a description of the symptoms you have from having COVID and the long term effects.
God that makes my freaking blood boil.
Damn @BigBenis@lemmy.world that was a hell of a conversation you we having.

I support the elimination of copyright in it’s current form
The way it was initially was fine IMO: 14 years, with an option to renew it at the end of those 14 years. ONCE.
Now in terms of patenting medications, if it was partially paid for with public money it’s the public’s patent. In other words it’s open for everyone. Made a new medication but took a government grant to help fund it? It’s public when it comes out, enjoy a nice hearty reward check for your efforts.
More states really need to get on board with this
I’m happy to see the first state do this, hopefully we can get the ball rolling on more.
