4·7 months agoEnshittification, also known as crapification and platform decay, is a pattern in which online products and services decline in quality over time. Initially, vendors create high-quality offerings to attract users, then they degrade those offerings to better serve business customers, and finally degrade their services to users and business customers to maximize profits for shareholders.
Yes, we are in the third phase: service to user is free diving in order to increase money to M$ shareholders?

World News@lemmy.world•Marine Le Pen banned from running for public office after guilty verdictEnglish
4·8 months agoI don’t know how politicaly motivated the harshness of the judgment was (and not in a “the politics in power wanted her gone”, more in a “the judiciary system realised shit is hitting the fan between US crazyness and Russian influence and decided to take a step and make an example”) but the evidence were damming.
Proof is: the defense didn’t even try to fight the evidence, rather the interpretation of it and the harshness of the sentence.
Another point to keep in mind: an ex president is being judged for corruption and the sentence requested by the DA is enormous. Apparently the judiciary system publicly told they wanted to put an end to a perceived leniency on the politics and regain public trust.
I’m just afraid this will result in an opposite effect.
I mostly using it for basic usage, nothing advanced like hosting/website/etc.
Great to know they good for advanced activities. It gives me more reasons to stay with them and help them make the service better. :)
I really want to like Infomaniak but apparently their syncing is… Let’s say it could be better.
If you’re just looking for somewhere to host your stuff it’s good. But their “suite” with open office (or any other one, can’t remeber) still have room for improvement.

3·9 months agoYeah howerver for that you’d need Brussels to find its balls and actually start acting like it had a spine.
And of course, find a consensus among all the contradictory interest of the different EU states (including a good chunk aligned on trump’s illiberal approach if not Russian controlled).
Man I REALLY hope you’re right, but I don’t have my hopes up. On another hand if it’s not now, it’ll never happen.

21·11 months agoI’m extremely frustrated by lineageOS only supporting SOME (could easily say the minority) version of the phones they describe as supported.
I wanted to give my old S8 a new life… Well the European version doesn’t seem to be supported…
Ouah nice, if I can keep W10 for a few years the time to learn the specificities of Linux (let’s be honest for a total newb, there are a lot) with the Deck it’s perfect!
This would also allow me to keep using software unable to run on Linux.
Thank you for explaining this, I’ll check!

politics @lemmy.world•CNN tried to find the makers of Trump’s new ‘Swiss-made’ watches. We ended up at a shopping center in Wyoming
3·1 year agoA Swiss journal reported about this as they identified and interviewed the watchmaker: https://www.letemps.ch/economie/horlogerie-joaillerie/donald-trump-propose-desormais-une-montre-swiss-made-a-100-000-dollars-dotee-d-un-mouvement-chaux-de-fonnier
However the article is ambiguous about what is actually made in Switzerland, sometime describing it as “the mechanism” and sometime as “the watch”.
