It’s probably from employers refusing to give them enough hours to earn benefits, so it totals out to less than two full time jobs. And it would be a nightmare to schedule your life around.

Glad you can afford housing and food on one paycheck! How does that work for someone making $7.25 an hour though?

Sorry that came off snippy. The fact that you aren’t homeless and have enough to eat that you dont have to consider a second job still says something about your economic state.

To observe that this person is able to subsist on a single income? How is observing this fact arrogance?

It’s arrogant because they can’t afford much at all and you’re talking past what they’re saying. Poverty is the condition of much of the working class. Having enough to eat and having a place to live doesn’t mean all that much when the content of your life is doing work as an anonymous drone and maybe being able to watch Netflix after you get home. Any medical emergency can uproot your already frail social existence. The worker is treated like cattle, who, as you should know, have housing and food aplenty. The latter two facts are not the core of the argument here.

This guy is saying there’s a huge spot of black mould on the wall and you’re derailing what they’re saying with a nonargument.

I’m 35 and have been poor my entire adult life yet have never even thought about a second job.

This is what they said. I myself am in the exact same position as the person above. Saying that they never thought about a second job is stating that they have not been forced to lose even more of the little time of their own they have to achieve the basics. If anything this original comment is demeaning by implying that it’s possible to survive on a single income, albeit minimally, and that anyone doing more is choosing that.

wow this is how I learn I’m doing great!

not really though. I would need a second job to actually get anywhere in life. as is, I’m really just dying slowly, skipping meals here and there, and I’m only able to exist at all because my city has public transit and some social safety nets (more than most Americans at least.) If I needed a car for employment, I’d be completely fucked.

unfortunately, I don’t think I could survive a second job. I’m quite frail, and what I do already takes a lot out of me. Especially considering that any second job would probably be in the service industry and require lots of standing/lifting/moving…yeaaaa ig I’ll just die.

What will happen when we can only afford barely surviving? Will the rich kill the 80% of the population to keep the prices high?

I’m a millennial and I think by the time I reach retirement age all our pension funds will have dried up.

As someone with a decent amount saved in 401k I fear the same. The rich people will kill us.

it’ll probably depend on how soon we stop voting for the democrats or republicans – we keep voting for the same people despite knowing that it’s causing this trend to happen.

My parents aren’t boomers. I was referring to the fact that they brought me into this world to suffer under capitalism. Also, to add insult to injury they cut off part of my dick.

fwiw it worth, they likely didn’t know – all westerners are heavily propagandized to want the same things that the epstein oligarchy wants financially
