Mozilla choosing Mistral for Firefox Smart Window feels like a rare AI partnership that actually fits the product. Privacy, zero data retention and multilingual models are a much better match for Firefox than turning the browser into another Big Tech AI funnel.

Why do you say privacy and zero data retention? Has there been any proof of this? What we have learned from the last few years of investigations is companies lie and lie and lie through their teeth about anything regarding privacy.

Personally I trust Mozilla and Mistral a lot more than any of those big tech bros.

Mistral makes a lot of local models you can run yourself, assuming that’s what this is about. Nothing would leave your computer

Doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to integrate, but it could be worse 🤷

Maybe not AI, but that specific comment does read like marketing copy. Then again, there is that list of three in there. That, plus just sounding like marketing, it could be AI. But I also concede that we, people that is, think in patterns of threes, so that’s not a strictly an AI behavior, but I can see how someone could reach that conclusion.
