i’m positing that piker and platner were both elevated because people feel that they’re progressive, but they only have centrist platforms.
At this point, he’s to the left of Bernie Sanders, who is to the left of most of the Democratic party. For a figure in the United States, he’s not a centrist. Especially on the subject of Palestine. If anything he’s been elevated as punching bag for centrists.
knowing that piker was groomed to become a media personality in a way similar to how justin timberlake was groomed for stardom via the mickey mouse club makes me envy him and chomsky already literally spent decades explaining to americans how the careers of media personalities are artificially boosted so long as they’re effective at capturing & co-opting progressive movements like piker is – hopefully unwittingly – doing.
history teaches us that you have to practice leftism in the right ways to succeed like the chinese, north koreans, vietnamese and cubans are doing and history also teach us us how to fail through various examples of leftists leaders and movements that chose to ignore history only to have their efforts end up being captured by the epstein class.
