I saw a video in which some characters of the Fallout tv show open a fridge and find an alien and just toss it out because they want the working fridge. I’ve never understood (or really bothered with) why Fallout had the nuclear “event” which triggered the use of the shelters. Was it an alien invasion?
Thank you for the explanation. As for the games and show - I have played Fallout 4 but the mandatory garish graphics made me pukish and I left the game at about 25% done. Never went back to it. Felt very stupid that they would choose to make the graphics bad as a theme of the game when I was playing on the Xbox One, specially when a lot of people report that the game makes them pukish.
As for the show… the no nose guy creeps me out. That’s why I didn’t bother with the show.

Yes. Though it didn’t happen initially. It just developed over time with that game and after a point I couldn’t play a single minute without feeling nauseous.
… How have you managed to play literally any other game then? It had decent graphics for 2015 and holds up ok today. If it looks that bad to you I can’t imagine you’re able to play anything but the most pristine AAAA games.
That’s what I’m thinking. OP might be some 180 mhz, 120 fps, whatever overclocking to get the most out of the game type of person. Which is fine, but when it holds you back from enjoying a large percent of all video games ever released, it’s a little ridiculous.
ETA: in fact I just did a couple-hundred-hour playthrough a couple months ago and it looked fine. A little muddy cause it’s like 11 years old now, but it still looks good imo. The stylization really helps to make it not look as dated. Also I used a shitload of power armor mods cause I wanted to be a collector of exotic armors. My favorite is probably the NCR PA based on the one from the show.
I was playing it on Xbox One. Not a hacker. So was definitely not overclocking the hardware to juice the game.
I’ve played Skyrim twice over. I’ve finished GTA Vice City. I’ve finished the first God of War. I’ve finished Far Cry… 4? The Nepal one.

Okay but Skyrim looks worse than Fallout 4, and Vice City looks like that. I guess I’m just even more surprised now that Fallout 4 supposedly made you nauseous if you could handle those other games.
When you say “first God of War” do you mean 2018 or the actual first one on PS2?
The PS2 one. And yes, I know Skyrim looks janky af. I still play to this day and I feel fine. I was looking at the clip of Fallout 4 the other day and it made me nauseous! Makes me irritated that I paid good money for it on the Xbox One way back when.
Is it motion sickness or is it just a weird “general gross” feeling?
First time I was actually pukish. Like, a switch flipped while playing the game one day and I just couldn’t sit with the game any more.
After doing some research on the art style and choices of the makers, it was irritation and a general gross feeling along with the pukishness.
You’re holding yourself back from some great storytelling and worldbuilding all because you don’t like the look of the graphics. I’ve literally never heard anyone say they feel nauseous from playing any Fallout game.
Also, you’d find the ghouls from any of the games before FO4/the show extremely discomforting if you didn’t like how The Ghoul looks in the show.
In lore, ghouls are insanely irradiated and mutated humans to the point they basically literally turn into leprous zombies. They’re functionally immortal, radiation heals them kinda like Wolverine (that one may be a bit of a retcon), and a lot of them lose their minds from the whole ordeal and go “feral.” In Fallout 3 in particular, there’s a location that’s populated entirely by ghouls and you can ask them what it’s like. At least one of them goes into detail about what it felt like when their face-skin peeled off, along with their nose.
Again, you’re really holding yourself back from enjoying a fantastic universe, but you do you.
Fair about the tv show. But the game made me nauseous and a few google searches did show me that others felt it too. I wanted to do finish the game. But I physically couldn’t.
Oh well.
Also, yeah I’m not a fan of the zombie genre in general.

I was gonna say they’re not actual zombies because they don’t eat each other… But in every Fallout game (that I’ve played) there’s literally a “Cannibalism” perk that lets you eat corpses for health. And The Ghoul most definitely has that perk in the show.
