ah yeah i see on https://rpilocator.com/?country=AU that only the pi4 is available from an official seller, hopefully that changes for you soon. We’ve got pretty much the whole range available in the UK now and for a couple of years it’s been really difficult to get any of them, one type would come in to stock every few weeks and then sell out instantly
i actually think plumbing is the thing we’d miss most if it suddenly vanished - collecting water and getting rid of human waste would be horrible chores. Also it’s always so nice being able to turn a tap and drink fresh clean water,
the shortage seems to be over, they’ve increased production and secured chip supply so you should be able to find them at RRP again.
i do agree, i went to an information sharing focused climate protest in a field and the police shut down the whole area and confiscated everything sharp from the vegan kitchen because they had ‘intelligence’ that green protestors planned to throw ninja-stars into horses eyes.
being bi i know very well that there are genuine threats from evil minded right wing crazies, but also i know just as well not to trust the MET for a second.
this could be a big life saver if it’s small, cheap and safe enough for doctors offices to have so they can triage patients and quickly refer them to hospital when needed rather than having to book an appointment for a scan. Could even become a standard part of a routine medical check-up to test for signs of aortic aneurysms or similar, that could be a huge life saver.
from what they say i wonder if it’ll be useful tied to a machine able to do near-autonomous endovascular surgery? that could really help reduce surgery wait times and improve a lot of peoples lives.
