What’s it’s name?
What’s it’s name?
Thats because Yo Noid was a localisation thing, it was a very different game in Japan.
There are Retro City Rampage and Shakedown Hawaii on the indie side. They rely on 80s and 90s nostalgia quite heavily but at least RCR was really fun to play, I didn’t play the other one yet.
I know this is not a popular take, but in my opinion The Simpsons Arcade wasn’t a very good game. I believe it’s purely a novelty product, it falls short when compared to almost any other well known beat’em up from the era.
That was a pretty cool video. It’s nice to know some people took (and still do) children’s entertainment seriously, and didn’t use it just as a rhetorical shield against the critisism of their work. Apart from delivering a good message, the games also seem extremely well made in general.
That’s it, I’m filtering all the posts with “remaster” on the title.
Actually I’m in my 20s myself. I just can’t see games like Call of Duty 4, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, GTA 4 and The Last of Us as retro when they are largely identical to what we would expect from a modern AAA title.
2007 was a long time ago, but not much has changed since then in mainstream big budget game development.
I honestly don’t agree with that at all. 360 and PS3 are old but their games aren’t very different compare to the big budget games of today. A few fads ended and others took their place, but that’s it. To me retro systems end with the Wii, mainly because Wii was just an overclocked Gamecube.
This year the original SMB will be forty years old.
I heard about Super Meat Boy quite a bit, it always popped up in must play indie games lists. I never heard of Trine before, so it’s definitely not the same.
I was beginning to fear the channel ran it’s course, this looks amazing. I hope it’s a sign Uncle Derek hasn’t ran out of topics yet.
I think I actually like it more than Super Mario Kart.
C buttons are meant for camera controls so a good amount of games did have fewer buttons to use. And dpad’s positioning meant for most games it served no use at all. There is no reason both couldn’t have been on the same handle.
It’s not as bad as I thought it was yesterday when I wrote without thinking about it too much but it’s still a big step down from the SNES controller. There is a reason a lot of people prefer modern replacements like Brawler64
Personally I don’t agree regarding the dualshock, all though I play a lot more 2D games than most so I’m biased.
Personally I don’t see how Dualshock’s subjectively sub-optimal analog stick pla–ement compares to N64’s mess of a controller.
N64 has less buttons to work with than it’s predecessor due to this stupid three handle set up. And 99% of games are made with analog stick in mind, so I can’t imagine a scenerio in which holding it is at all comfortable. I don’t know what is there to like here, it’s a step down in every way.
360 is AAA slop, I refuse to recognize that thing as retro.
Doom is the best retro game commnunity.
Perfect Dark Remastered on PC is all I need.
Doing that becomes harder and harder as time goes by. When I was shopping for a new Android phone I couldn’t find one that was recent enough and also had custom rom support of any kind. I know there are smartphones specifically built to be friendly towards custom roms and Linux but those are only available in Europe and North America.
