It’s only worth it if you can get a custom ROM friendly phone. Otherwise, no. Stock ROMs are approaching Apple’s levels of lockdown. With Apple you can at least get software updates for longer. And more games if you play on mobile.

For me the ideal way to enjoy retro consoles would be a SBC with RetroPie connected to a HDR 4k OLED TV with raster scan emulation. As it stands though I have a 1080p IPS monitor with regular old RetroArch. It’s nice, but I hope one day I can afford the most baller setup.
That probably wouldn’t have come out well. I remember hearing that they were rushing super hard to get the game out, to the point they’ve halved the amount of chapters in the game. GBA release resulted in a more complete game that visually aged better.
Once my phone becomes that limited I may as well go back to a feature phone after mine stops being usable.
I should get back to that, I only played a little of it but I remember enjoying it.
I was never there, I wish I could’ve been there 🙁
I don’t know, I don’t own a VR headset. But I never heard anyone talk about it negatively. Apparently the gameplay is rather restricted since it’s supossed to be a beginner’s VR game but that’s about it.
People really liked Half-Life Alyx so whoever is in the development team is still capable of making a game people love. Though, ultimately, whether a hypotetical release of Half-Life 3 could live up to the hype or not is irrelevant since no such game will ever be released.
New ones are still being made. I can’t give specific examples since I don’t play Half-Life mods but I’m sure you can find some pretty cool stuff by looking around.
These phones don’t sell very well though, and the manufacturer can’t make more money from the userbase after the purchase on top of that. They pretty much have to overprice it.
Javascript was a mistake.
I haven’t seen a single other budget or midrange phone with this problem.
Honestly at this rate my next phone will be a feature phone. There is a lot I love about my Poco X7 Pro, but also a lot that I do not. And a lot of things seem to be getting worse.
Doing that becomes harder and harder as time goes by. When I was shopping for a new Android phone I couldn’t find one that was recent enough and also had custom rom support of any kind. I know there are smartphones specifically built to be friendly towards custom roms and Linux but those are only available in Europe and North America.
What’s it’s name?
Thats because Yo Noid was a localisation thing, it was a very different game in Japan.
There are Retro City Rampage and Shakedown Hawaii on the indie side. They rely on 80s and 90s nostalgia quite heavily but at least RCR was really fun to play, I didn’t play the other one yet.
I know this is not a popular take, but in my opinion The Simpsons Arcade wasn’t a very good game. I believe it’s purely a novelty product, it falls short when compared to almost any other well known beat’em up from the era.
That was a pretty cool video. It’s nice to know some people took (and still do) children’s entertainment seriously, and didn’t use it just as a rhetorical shield against the critisism of their work. Apart from delivering a good message, the games also seem extremely well made in general.
I’m sure hardware is fine, I had a budget phone from six years ago (Huawei Y7 2019) before I upgraded and while it wasn’t good, it wasn’t unusable either. And that phone was just a hair above an Android Go phone. At this point performance upgrades should slow down. I can’t speak for their software support though.
