What i find interesting is that pubblishes have gone to every length to reduce the benefits of consumers and increase their margins. Yet, pirating is still there. The question is whethere it has reduced. I was pretty content with buying media i liked and then ripping it but nowadays there is hardly a new CD or DVD being produced. Subscriptions are not the way, especially when only a few large players are controlling the market. They just do what they want.
The more i read about these stories the more SciFi movies of th 80s and 90s appear closer to reality. Real visionaries were those like George Orwell and Isaac Asimov that saw the big brother and AI coming. Imagine what will happen once AI gets integrate into our eletric grids and power stations. The AI will “understand” that its survival depends on the grid and will exclude supply to anything other that its own. I hope I’m not around when this happens. AI should never have access to critical infrastructure.
Too bad I read this only now. I may have already updated the original app to v.1.28.1 Just seen that on Android you only have access to syncthing-fork now. Moved over to syncthing-fork and realised you cant import the config. Its expecting a zip file yet v.1.28.1 expoted loads of individual files. :-(

What? $9 for a box of cereal? What the hell of a cereal do you buy? Look, its all proportional. Here a box of cereal is about half that price, yet most people are on €50k or less. OK, we have free health care (that is slowly being eroded) but still, we have petroleum at €1.9/l … How can you not be living well off with $200k per year?
I confirm too that banking apps on /e/ is a bit of a nightmare. But I used /e/ for 3 years or so and was very happy until I moved to GrapheneOS.

I totally agree. Used pixels are superb with grapheneos. Syncthing is what i use ad a backup. I think the problemi is that google stops releasing updates after 5 yearss old units don’t get updates I think. I have the 5th June build and it reports a security update of December 2023.
Isn’t that called “capitalism gone bad”? The principles of capitalism and that story about competitiveness is good but in a global economy where monopolies distort the market, by reflection you’ll have bending of rules which thrives thanks to a political class that is driven not by ideals, but rather personal interests and ego. Those that have the poet will abuse it. I’m not surprised at all. What is worse is that peoples brains are becoming numb thanks to social media. We are not able to think for ourselves anymore.
I think human lazyness as you say is the biggest obsticle. My kids school sent out a Google form the other day to collect family stats. A google form requires a google email and i had degooglised the family 5-6 years ago. My wife was concerned that not providing the info would singke out my son but i was determined to not fill that form, thus passing my data to Google. So i called up the school and sought a second method. The school secretary eventually agreed to record the info over the phone. I lost 30 mins of my day. Basically, if we don’t have the will to mske change, change will never come. But then we have no right to complain, do we?
