And the food budged for each inmate is higher compared to for each school student. There are stricter regulations for prison food too so they’re more nutritious and of higher quality.

Oh that’s a good tip! I have old towels that I now use for cleaning towels, but I’ll check animal shelters near me as an alternative.

Technology@lemmy.world•Programmers: Stop Calling Yourselves EngineersEnglish
2·1 year agoI live in Australia, which I guess is not a civilized country.
In any case, what does that even mean for software engineers to be certified? Do we get certifications for specific programming language? Or a stack? Or is it specific to what industry your tech is based on? Cos I don’t think it makes sense for someone working on a social media platform to have the same certification as someone who’s working on health tech for example. Why does it need to be a protected title? Does the general public even care or is it just other certified engineers who care?

Technology@lemmy.world•Programmers: Stop Calling Yourselves EngineersEnglish
3·1 year agoYeah I was gonna ask, whether certification/government regulations are required for all engineering disciplines. I graduated with a CS degree and work as a software engineer now. I have family members who studied different engineering disciplines (industrial, civil, mechanical, etc), and only 1 of them ever needed certification (civil engineer). What makes one more “engineering” than others?

151·1 year agoI’ve only visited Colorado once, during my cross country road trip maybe 10 years ago (I’ve since left the US) and loved it there. I did notice how much healthier/thinner everyone was. I was in Boulder for 2-3 days and did a couple day hikes. Everyone was very friendly. I would love to live there. As someone who’s on the higher side of normal weight, I’ve never felt so unfit.
I have a 15 Pro as well and mine is still ok. Although I rarely use the port because I use wireless charging most of the time.
I did have an issue with CarPlay disconnecting sometimes, even though the cable itself doesn’t pop out. But it also happens on my husband’s Pixel, and we’ve tried other cables, so we think it’s just the car’s connection rather than the cable/phone.

2·2 years agoIn my experience, the top more detailed view is available when I’m wearing Apple Watch to sleep. The bottom view is just based on other devices (e.g. when I stop using my iPhone and put it down to charge, combined with my sleep schedule data)

Apple@lemmy.world•I was hoping someone might be able to explain to me why sleep data can look so wildly dissimilar? What does that all mean?English
1·2 years agoDo you mean this is the same sleep data for the same day and asking why the data itself is different? Or are you asking why they look different regardless of the data represented?
You said it’s very difficult to locate relevant information, is there anything specific you’re looking for?
Mostly when it was released or when I noticed it was released. It’s in no particular order

I’ve watched YouTube videos of school cafeterias in different countries preparing food. Japanese schools get fresh produce every morning, some proudly mention they’re fresh from local farmers, and they have to clean (very thoroughly too), prepare, and cook the food every day. But the US schools get frozen/fridged packaged stuff delivered and they cook by putting stuff on trays and heating them up.
