Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Upstairs neighbor deadlifting in his apartmentEnglish
18·4 months agoAgreed. Talk your neighbor like a normal person.
Passive aggressive bull shit alone won’t fix the issue.
Maybe he’s a dick and won’t care. Then you should take it up with management.

Technology@lemmy.ml•Logitech breaks your mouse with a software updateEnglish
2·4 months agoYeah. My MX Master works on Linux, but sometimes the side buttons stop working.
I’ve heard good things about the Keychron mice. I’ll have to take a look. I think they have one that is very similar to the MX Master.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•We shouldn't have to go to college in order to afford a house by 30.English
31·6 months agoHome economics and shop class used to be pretty common, but most folks don’t take them anymore either because they aren’t offered or students aren’t aware they exist.
It’s been a while since I read Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight, but Bruce Wayne is an older man in that series. It also kicks ass.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Getting 'laid off' probably sounds pretty sexy to someone who doesn't know what it actually meansEnglish
6·10 months agoBeing laid into? Personal preference.
For the “Midwest”, in my opinion:
- Ohio is in the Midwest (or at least the places you can order “pop”…maybe this isn’t a thing in Ohio…I don’t know…Ohio sucks…Go Blue)
- North/South Dakota shouldn’t be
- Kansas shouldn’t be
- Nebraska shouldn’t be

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Did you sleep with notebooks and stationary under your pillows as kid?English
5·1 year agoI didn’t do that specifically, but one of my grandfathers was an insurance salesman and worked out of a home office before he retired.
He still had all of his things by the time my sister and I would play at their house as kids, and we would spend HOURS playing office. Typing memos to each other, cutting paper, using white out, etc.

3·1 year agoI haven’t read the Andromeda Strain…I guess I shouldn’t?
I actually enjoyed 90% of Sphere, but then the ending just…killed it. Like, it comes off as if he just got sick of writing the story despite not having a way to end it.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What books would you describe as nothing burger?English
4·1 year agoThe Sphere. I’ve never hated the ending to a book more.

41·1 year agoI feel like cannibalism has to be an intentional act.
Like, I happen to smell other peoples farts, but I’m not a fart sniffer.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Looking for a "set it and forget it" distroEnglish
121·1 year agoI use Bluefin myself, and it’s honestly been game changing. Using an immutable distro has been the greatest quality of life upgrade in my 15 years of using Linux.
Also, if you use distrobox (automatically installed with Bluefin, Aurora, Bazzite, etc.) you can even setup an Arch container and continue to use the AUR. I use Steam installed from within an Arch container and it doesn’t feel any different from a natively installed app. It also means I don’t have to use the Steam flatpak which I had a couple issues with.
I think you just don’t know how to tell time?
