grape wine sucks
there’s more complexity in Shaoxing cooking wine than grape wine
also the best beer I’ve ever had was some artisanal non-alcoholic one, I’ve been trying to find it for 10 years but never succeeded
something so salty it’s called maldon
this dimension isn’t real
I can see Craig of the Creek being changing for little kids
and senses are real bc they’re reproducible
I see john get cut and he says owie
I get cut and it also feels like owie
therefore if john shoots himself and dies I can expect that to do the same thing
unless you’re saying that my very conception of john, my visual image of him, is all solipsistic and derived from my own mental dreamworld, as are everything else in my life. In that case I would say damn I’m heckin smart and got a big brain. I used to think about this when I was little and I would imagine myself sitting on a big rock in space, and I’d wake up and realize that everything (my family friends etc) were all a dream, and the reality was just me, this moonrock I was sitting on, and the black galaxy around me
how do you know your senses are valid and not solipsistic
if I’m the only real person on earth and everyone else is NPCs that means my senses are even more reliable and valid
deer - clean but mineraly, also lean
goat - like lamb but more barn flavor
alligator - like chicken pork fish
frog legs - like chicken fish
goat testes - like the white of an egg but kinda musty (would not eat again)
snails - chewy
crawfish - tastes like a “muddier” lobster
shark fin soup - had it once in a restaurant decades ago, it was kinda gelatinous but slightly sticky
sea urchin - I didn’t like this, but the ones I’ve seen in sushi restaurants look different (paler) than the ones I see fresh from the ocean, so it might be a freshness thing
eel - fatty and denser meat similar to the texture of mahi mahi
wagyu - I’ve had a few slices of this before, and I find it overrated (I find steak in general overrated). However I had it seared on a pan and it was thinly sliced already so it might’ve just been too nuked to taste good
yeah I hate having them in my pocket. It’s so bulky. MP3 players on the other hand are like credit cards weightwise, and you can still use normal fucking headphones with them
I think the clickwheel design is, in my view, the single best one-thumb no-looking-required input scheme for an MP3 player I think anyone has ever made. Plug it into, say, my car stereo AUX port and I can pick it up with a free hand to control volume, select tracks, and even navigate mostly by memory without having to look at the thing. I can just tell where I am based on the feel of the control. Infinitely better than a featureless flat slab of a touch screen that gives you no sensory feedback.
can’t most of these things be achieved easily by physical buttons too? of course everything is better than touch screen buttons
Does itunes even exist still?
I have an old ipod nano that still works, but I want to get the music from it onto my computer.
Death to America
Death to America
I already knew we’d collapse before COVID, but seeing the reaction to COVID made me realize how absurdly stupid the average person is
Like at least with racism, you could tentatively argue that a mayo indirectly benefits from it. But the COVID brainworms is reminiscent of AI bots. Calling them cattle would be generous
people who enforce IP also don’t believe in IP
how do you make a separate internet?
you should think like Bill Gates and play 9/11 in minecraft
Millions must never remember
Millions, Billions even, of adults will learn and date and play with children in the Roblox metaverse if we don’t play IRL Minecraft
Things that are hard to believe still exist:
Being a somewhat tech illiterate millennial (only knows how to navigate windows and passed a data structures class) it feels like any of these things could be eventually taken out next (probably not Linux just because it’d be the hardest)
I wouldn’t at all be surprised if they found a way to monetize hard drives into a subscription based storage service
Mostly I don’t understand much, but I know that I witnessed the internet turn from a fast clickable diverse wonderland to a place dominated by 6 websites which take up 4GB RAM to run, followed by the further decline of youtube (started going for ADHD related results in 2011), google (search results started sucking in 2019) and reddit (mods started getting banhappy in 2020)
