14·30 days agoIts not even trolling. If you are a foreign born American Citizen getting a new birth certificate isn’t exactly easy. This why I always have kept two copies of my Birth Certificate.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump’s scandal-ridden Labor Secretary resigns after reports of drinking and misconduct
16·1 month agoEh, he’s an Indian-American I’d still take odds he out in the next fortnight. Kegsbreath is doing all the same stuff but as a white male I recon his job is safe until after November.

26·1 month ago“Underground construction, including of bunkers, bomb shelters, military installations or medical facilities, may proceed.” - emphasis mine
I find the medical facilities part very interesting. It sounds to me like they’re building a Dave style single room hospital under there. A place outside of the very public Reed National where the president can receive serious medical treatments. With Trump in the hospital so often I suspect that this whole thing has been a cover so that Trump won’t look weak going to see his doctor

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Back in the day the world had The Great Dictator speech speaking the truth. Then came Network with the I am mad as hell. In this era what speech are we going to look back from the future?
9·2 months agoI’m jealous of you. You’re one of the lucky ten thousand today. Andor is a Star Wars property, but it’s an adult look at fascism and building a rebellion against it. One of the top ten series of the 2020’s really amazing writing.

5·2 months agoThe quote “Right now, there are 13-year-old kids about to invade Kamchatka in their first-ever game of Risk that look like Carl von Clausewitz compared to Trump.” just about covers the level of strategic planning but I don’t understand how tactical planning is also so poor. I’m guessing Pete’s purges have shredded the upper ranks of everyone who’s not a sycophant.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Pluralistic: The online community trilemmaEnglish
2·2 months agoIs it? I’m on a Lemmy instance and I use Voyager as my daily drive, so I’m pretty behind on Piefed. But that does sound like a good idea.

2·2 months agoSo if I understand you, Lemmy would benefit from a grouping above /c that’s not instance related? Like Usenet had the rec.cats group which spawned rec.cats.siamese? So maybe a /u universe? If I wanted to read about television I could go to u/television which could merge feeds of c/television@piefed.social and c/television@lemmy.world and any other c/television@.? I could see possibilities of abuse but we shouldn’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Maybe a /u could be an opt in thing with a manager of some kind to prevent unrelated /c’s from randomly joining.

2·3 months agoIf like Expedition with Steve Backshall you’ve got check his other works on the BBC. He did several series of Deadly 60 for kids and several Land of the … specials where he travels to other exotic locations. I saw him live talking about his travels and he took questions from kids in the audience and he’s quite charismatic and charming.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What Was the Golden Era of Video Games?
8·3 months agoThe golden age of video games was between when I was 13 and 21 years old. I was old enough to make spare cash to buy my own games and young enough to have spare time and energy to play them. Also my fast twitch reflexes were still good then so I could easily do a platformer or FPS. And this is true for everyone no matter when they were born.

Cheetah’s went through a genetic bottleneck somewhere between ten and twelve thousand years ago. There may have been less than ten left at one point. Dating the Cheetah Genetic Bottleneck
My totally silly theory is that humans in fact where adopting kits at that time and help saved the species, and that’s why they’re so almost domesticated.
