I’m still sad that ASUS no longer allows bootloader unlocking for their Zenfones.

Good point.

I remember back in the day when i was muckimg around with my HTC Desire Z, there were loada of custom ROMs out there and I don’t think there were device blobs back then? If that could be done back in the day, it should still be do-able now? Unless Android has become so much more complicated now that it is a very big task?

Something different and possibly unique / whimsical.
A lot of train stations have a rubber stamp + ink pad of the station name and a logo / picture. As you trvel around Tokyo via their excellent public transport system, look around or ask their staff where the “ike-stamp” is.
It became a very unique souvenir of my holiday there.
Also along the same line, most shrines you visit will have an office where you can purchase a “shrine book” and for a few hundred yen, have a staff write in it the name of the shrine and the date you were there. Another unique souvenir.

Get to da choppa.

Wing Commander series. Played a lot of Wing Commander 1 to 5 as well as the spinoff Privateer.
I also spent a good amount of time playing Civilization 1.

That brings back lots of memories!

Quite possibly Philippines.

I vaguely remember if I wanted to play it in single player, I would press select first before entering the code for it to trigger in the correct mode. LOL

It’s not working? Try blowing into the cartridge again.
I still have an account but no longer contribute anything. I occasionally visit it to see what’s up but that’s about it. I do nit have the app installed and only access via the browser.

Back to the Future.
A normal Doc Brown wouldn’t have invented a time machine.

The side mounted finger print reader / power button on my old Sony Xperia XZ 1 Compact was great. Wish more phones had side mounted FP sensors.
Back in the early days of Win10, an updated messed up my system and I ended up with duplicated icons. Wasn’t happy, but didn’t feel that it was that big of a deal to warrant a full reinstall.
2 years ago I built myself a new desktop and decided to try installing Linux straight away. Haven’t looked back since.
Another big fan of Darknet Diaries.
Ever since Michael Bazzle of Privacy, Security & OSINT stopped doing the podcasts, I’m still trying to find a replacement. Am listening to The Lockdown - Practical Privacy and Security in the mean time.
Also listen to Linux Game Cast.

Bazzite has been smooth sailing about 80% of the time for me. The rest of the 20% were due to either plasma or runner crashing, requiring me to perform a hard reset using the power button. And then it magically atarted working again. I’ve also had my home folder become read-only on occasion. Very strange.

I think early generation CRTs had mercury and lead in them, which made them not enviromentally friendly. Not too sure if there are any modern materials which can replace the hazardous ones.
