realcaseyrollins@narwhal.cityto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do I get informed on Joe Rogan without watching his videos.2·2 years agoIt still is. You can commit to the ad hominem (guilt by association) fallacy by saying that the arguments are bad because extremists believe them or point out logical fallacies in the arguments and say that they must be false because they’re logically invalid.
realcaseyrollins@narwhal.cityto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do I get informed on Joe Rogan without watching his videos.2·2 years agoFocusing on one or the other should suffice for an argument though. Although you can’t do both because the latter is an ad hominem fallacy
realcaseyrollins@narwhal.cityto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do I get informed on Joe Rogan without watching his videos.54·2 years agoWhy do you want to debate your husband about Rogan’s talking points if you yourself are having trouble arguing with them?
Tox doesn’t collect any data at all, as far as I know. It’s purely P2P.

realcaseyrollins@narwhal.cityto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why are batteries in phones always measured in mAh instead of Wh like for example notebooks?31·2 years agoThat’s a good question, I’ve actually been wondering the opposite.
realcaseyrollins@narwhal.cityto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why wasn't former President Bush of the USA, charged with any crimes, when we marched into Afghanistan and Iraq by his orders, under pretenses?36·2 years agoWe can say the same thing about why Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden haven’t been prosecuted either.
Seems like it’s a lil hard to prosecute presidents who support the war machine.
When you gotta go, you gotta go.

realcaseyrollins@narwhal.cityto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Ordered 20+ groceries from Amazon on Prime Day. Today my order arrived with each item packaged separately.71·2 years agoThanks! This actually is a Lotide instance! We’re kinda like Lemmy and Kbin but we have more of a Hacker News type feel
realcaseyrollins@narwhal.cityto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Ordered 20+ groceries from Amazon on Prime Day. Today my order arrived with each item packaged separately.81·2 years agoLOL the state of buying discs in brick and mortar store is abysmal now. I used to like buying discs from Walmart but the one near me has relegated everything to a bargain bin of kids’ movies, basically. Practically the only way to buy discs now is to do so online, or at a Best Buy or Barnes & Noble if you have one near you
realcaseyrollins@narwhal.cityto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Ordered 20+ groceries from Amazon on Prime Day. Today my order arrived with each item packaged separately.231·2 years agoWhat’s a better alternative? All I know of is eBay, but I used Amazon to buy DVDs and Blu-Rays to support films, and eBay sales don’t count as disc sales the same way that Amazon sales do.
realcaseyrollins@narwhal.cityto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How does this federated forum / site work?2·2 years agoThat’s the fun part, it doesn’t.
Joking aside it’s my understanding that instances grab new content from communities/magazines it knows about, as much as possible. From what I’ve been seeing, federation in both Lemmy and Kbin can be a bit wonky though, I’ve gone back to Lotide.
I’m not lost, just mentioning that making your software partisan (either by design or reputation) will limit success and utility of the software in a way that’s unnecessarily harmful
There is more than one?
Actually not that I know of, just wolfballs.com, but I assume there are far more lemmy instances that I just forgot about
What is reactionary?
Making free-speech instances in response to the main instance
And why is it bad?
A couple reasons, firstly, it solidifies Lemmy’s reputation as a platform for leftists, and seconds, it unnecessarily divides and isolates right wing users and instances from most Lemmy users who abide by the mainstream Lemmy perspective.
That’s a good question. My instinct would be to say that they’re worried about importing radicalized Palestinians, but I don’t know that the ideology of those radicals would be too different than the people living in Egypt, at least not different enough that it would spark violence.
